Pearl - the ghostess with the mostess. This term was used on the old Topper TV show (The Kirbys and their St.Barnard ,all dead in a skiing mishap, haunt Cosmo Topper to make his life more interesting - and unpredictable. Only he can see or hear them, which makes him confusing to his wife, when he speaks to them.
This old TV show, was in turn based on classic motion pictures, 2 or 3 I recall, and these were based on the fantasy novels by Thornton Smith).
