If they look in the daytime, it should be ok unless these are New Wave vampires and sunlight just makes them feel awful or the vamps wear lots of sunblock. Saw an episode of one show the vampires wore sunblock and were able to stroll around during the day. The vamps were also lawyers, seemed like a natural fit.
Somebody complained about the city legislature in my city and one paper had a headline that said "Vampire State". They even had a picture of the mayor photoshopped to look like a vampire. That was good for some laughs that day.

He he, I'm more into old fashioned vampires although I do love ideas like 30 days of night.

30 days of night was well done.
HBO had a series called True Blood, its about vampires in the Old South of the US.
They stayed close to the old school vampire rules except that they could look at crucifixes.
There is room for other supernatural creatures like shapeshifters and witches.
There was a Tv series called Moonlight, which had vampires and they did away with a lot of the old school rules. Vampires could walk in the daytime but the sun would weaken them and no bursting into flame. Staking would not kill them but would paralyze them. The main char was a vampire and was ok for a vampire not as dark and broody as Angel (Buffy the vampire slayer). The show also had some interesting conspiracy sideplots and even a serum that would turn a vampire into a human for a while. Too bad its cancelled, they had some nice ideas.
The Underworld series had the best weapons, UV bullets to shoot vampires and silver bullets for shooting werewolves. Was waiting for someone to move up the tech level. The second Blade movie had some hitech vampire weapons too.
