from a shoot this week, black belt in 5 different martial arts plus he does "tricks" like running up walls and back flips and stuff..... unfortunately he's damaged his knee and went into have surgery the day after I shot these.Related content

Beautiful, you do an excellent job with capturing the movements just right, the lighting is also gorgeous Sorry to hear he damaged his knee, it's definitely better by now, but that still sucks to get injured...

Capoeira? Thats a really dificult art to use, trust me, ive tried. emphasis on the word tried.... i use some of the kicks in my JKD, but you probably dont care.... good job on the photography!

Hmm, it is very nice. It is rare to see such a martial artist willing to pose. Myself am a martial artist of sorts. I do both Shotokan Karate and Tae Kwon Do. Though; I need to get in better shape, lol. Anyway it's very nice.

it was actually a paid shoot for me, he needed some shots for his portfolio as he wants to go into film and TV. I was honoured that he chose me

I love the whole series that you have done of him, especially this particular photography...crazy and intriguing.
Question for you, I noticed you have a lot of photo's with a circular light towards the middle, do you have the light directed straight at the background/subject or?...and what type of light/brand do you use because it gives off splended results

hiya, I use 3 bowens 500W studio lamps (or a combination of)..... and yes, I have one with a snoot directed from above towards the back ground. takes a bit of fiddling around to get it just right but I like the effect it gives. cheers for the feedback

the light on the background is a honeycomb, it gives excellent directional lighting, the recent ones with nixxx and the fans are using the honeycomb directed onto the subject.

I cant wait to see the shots when his knee is better. I have a mate who does similar stuff, some of it looks crazy on camera. Great capture, him looking into the camera really adds a lot to the shot, it looks almost effortless, perfect timing, you caught his legs in just the right position, any later and it wouldn't of looked as impressive I dont think.

he's ok, will take a few weeks before he's without crutches again but should be back to 100% in 6 months apparently! so expect another shoot in May!

thanks, that was the second attempt.... and apparently that's a "simple" move :/ we're saving the more complicated stuff for the next shoot when his knee is better
