Description Hi!

This is Rocksteady, as seen in the TMNT toy line.

When I watched TMNT II movie for the first time, I got really disappointed that the two new evil mutants that were going to be created by Shredder's team weren't Bebop and Rocksteady. Recently, I've read that the original idea was bringing both Shredder's mutant henchmen to the big screen, but Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Ninja Turtles, didn't want them in the movie. So they created Tokka, a mutant sea turtle, and Rahzar, a mutant wolf, to replace Bebop and Rocksteady in the movie. They're cool characters, but I think that the original idea would have been better.

Hope you like it!

I love your cartoony Rocksteady!

I like this design. Simple and eye-catching, and his important physical features are there. I love that you kept the action figure colour scheme, I always liked that better than in the cartoon. I'm happy that those guys are in the IDW comic series now.

Thank you!
I like the designs of the toys. They're tough like the comics but visually similar to the cartoon.
Bebop and Rocksteady are cool characters. It would have been great if they had appeared in the movies and in the most recent cartoons.

Kevin Eastman likes Bebop and Rocksteady. It's dickhead Peter Laird that didn't want them.

From what I heard, the reason the original TMNT creators didn't want Bebop & Rocksteady in the TMNT2 movie was because the makers of the movie wanted to tone their characters down alot, (make 'em even stupider, and less mean then they were even in the cartoon wich already toned them down a bit after the second season) wich they didn't want to do.
So they made Tokka & Razzar instead. (Admittedly, I kinda liked them to.) So maybe it was a good thing they didn't put Bebop & Rocksteady in the movie. Hollywood might've ruined them, or might've made them kinda weird. (But who knows?)

Also, great work on Rocksteady. He looks great in your drawing style, and I like the unique proportions you gave him, and comically hairy arms.
I also like how you have him holding his machete wich I think he only used once or twice in the cartoon. (Due to network censors thinking such a weapon was to "violent" for a kid's show, or something.)

Oh, I didn't know that. Well, it makes sense. Better new characters than facing the risk of spoiling the original ones. And the movie's monsters were very cool. I just got disapointed that they weren't the ones I expected, but they did a great job with Tokka and Razzar in the movie.
Thank you, Iḿ glad that you like it!

Na verdade o Tokka é uma Alligator snapping turtle, foi mal pela correção.>.< Mas o Bebop e o Rocksteady sempre vão ser os melhores!

Tem razão, a espécie é essa outra mesmo. To vendo na wikipedia.

Get dem toitles!

That's an interesting bit of trivia there. I imagine Eastman wanted to keep their "worlds" a bit separated, or maybe Bebop and Rocksteady were just too silly for the more "serious" movie settings. Did you see the recentish Turtles Forever movie? I really didn't expect to be so entertained by seeing Bebop and Rocksteady return, but I totally was.

I've watched a part of that Turtles Forever movie. What a fantastic idea! I don't know why they kept Bebop and Rocksteady only in the universe of the 80s cartoons. They could be easily reformulated to appear in the regular 2003 show. Seeing them in Thurtles Forever was a great moment of nostalgia.

Peter Laird, co-creator of TMNT and creative consultant of the 2k3 show, was adamant about not having anything from the 1987 show(besides the headband colors) in the new one. You would not see Bebop and Rocksteady in any TMNT project he approves. And don't get him started on Venus de Milo.

B & R shoould have been in the film. I could see no reason why not, they were great characters. Interesting how you went for the toy design of Rocky here - I never understood why his toy was less accurate than Bebop's one - still a classic hornhead though! Am I the only one who noticed that he spoke a little like Joe E. Ross at times with the 'Oo! Oo!' bit?

BezerroBizarro In reply to Granitoons [2012-04-25 00:47:13 +0000 UTC]

They really should! The second movie isn't much more serious than the cartoons, so they could fit the movie easily, even if they kept their humouristic concept. It's interesting that some characters of the toyline seem to be a mix of the comics style and the cartoon style. But it's weird that Rocksteady didn't appear in comics, so they changed his look for no reason. Curiously, Rockstady toy is very similar to the videogame versions for NES, by Konami. He even has the rifle in the games. About his voice, I'm not sure, for I don't know Joe E. Ross. haha! I'll search for some videos with him and compare.
