Description

This is for zhaisiwen over at @aphsecretsanta . One of the pairings they requested was Poland x Belarus (which I am a sucker for) with the prompt that the couple was “doing a winter activity in one of their countries”. So yeah, I tried to fulfill that request. Poland and Belarus are shopping at Poland’s house at the Christmas Market in Krakow (I tried to make that the background) and Poland is pointing out another store he wants to go into with Belarus….I’m going to put more detail on my refs and inspiration later when I get out of school tomorrow. I just wanted to say thank you for being so patient Swien, I’m so sorry you got this picture a week later than it was supposed to be, long story short, the hotel my family and I were staying at over winter break said they had a scanner I could use, but they actually didn’t….so I had to wait till I got home to use my scanner, but I got home a day later than expected because we got snowed in at the airport… -__-  Anyways, merry late Christmas and a late happy new year! I hope you like the pics, this was my first time using artists’ quality watercolors, so I basically had no idea what I was doing (AKA sorry for my painting and anatomical mistakes)

P.S.- The first pic is the finished picture, and the picture below it (2nd one) is the initial sketch/lineart I made before I painted it.

P.S.S.- I’m so sorry, I suck at painting snow…..

To , I have some questions regarding shading/lighting and using watercolors. I know that it probably doesn't show in the picture, but how could I better shade my characters/background if the light source was coming from the bottom left hand corner of the drawing? Also when shading, should I use a different color to shade with or should I use the same color of the item but a darker shade? In regards to using watercolors, how exactly could I paint snow and make it look like snow? Also, is there any way I could use watercolors to give the background texture/depth, like the building in the background? Thank you!

I'm in the process of repainting/redlining this for you,...but it can take a bit, because paint needs to dry. ^^"

EDIT:
finished it!
