Description Field sketching- rabbit anatomy sketch.

The assignment was to sketch the skeleton of an animal while looking at the stuffed specimen at the natural history museum. This was after some intensive lectures and study of zoology and animal anatomy. Rabbits can be a bit tricky since most of the body is one large shape. Fun though.

Wow! This is impressive! I have studied rabbit anatomy before (because they're cute and I have OCs that are rabbitsΒ ) and it never ceases to amaze me.

I have pet rabbits and this helps me see how their skeletons fit underneath the snuggly bunny on the outside!

love the art..... but sorry to say being a vet nurse and all and don't mean to sound mean but rabbits have 13 ribs on each side >.>

Thanks! It was actually a timed study from a specimen at a history museum, and not being a vet, I knew it might be off. I'll put a note on there. There are other little problems as well.

Really interesting; I've never really thought about the vertebrae of a rabbit's neck before. Thanks for the insight

Very nice drawing, very clear I like the 3D effect you've put in the front legs.
Pity that there are some anatomical bugs, but only the neck vertebrae really bothers me. Here are some pictures: [link] [link] [link]

This is fantastic! Did you really draw the bones without a reference? I mean that is truly amazing, and I just love the x-ray sort of view we get with this. The detail in the bones is beautiful and I love the big funnel-like ears! ^^ A truly beautiful piece, I applaud you!

Yeah- I meant it to be a study, so it's funny to me that so many people like it so much. It's a great way to understand anatomy. Thank you for your comments!

Wow, no reference for the skeleton, then? I could barely do this for humans, let alone other animals. I envy your mad skillz.
