Thanks very much, Adam. Really pleased you like it. It might be old, and feature a team I really dislike, but it's still one of the best racing pics I've ever taken...

wow, that's an amazing capture, daniel!! i love how the cars and the fire stand out in the dessaturated surroundings! you're one of the few people i've seen use this effect without making it look clichΓ© or boring... it's fantastic!

well i don't know how this looked before but this one definitely looks good. the colours are nice and the vignette is just right for the composition.
mind uploading the original to photobucket or something and sending the link? just to compare.

Sweet shot Dan, very much a 'trade mark' shot for you!
And that's a good thing btw.
I've looked at the various versions floating around, and well, I'm undecided about colour treatment. I'd prob B&W the whole damn thing and leave only a splash of colour.
Give me a minute and I'll see what I can do.

nice shot, love the flames
i just dont like the colour modification
i would love to see this shot straight out of the camera, no modification apart from cropping and watermarking

Okay, just for you, here is the original . I do the colour edits on just about every racing shot now, but it was born out of my sheer hatred towards the scenery at QR. I just happened to like the edits very much and so have kept the theme going.

Thanks very much! Perfect team formation, and the flames are a bonus. Not too hard, as they really do shoot flames for a couple of seconds...

ah ok, is not like motos where the flames are there just for a fraction of second.. but still.. EXCELLENT CAPTURE!!! glad I discover it!

That it is. In fact, most of my QR images were taken from that spot...

Its a good spot right there. Close enough to the track to get a nice photo without spending $2000+ on a lens. I'm just disappointed that all of the historic meets will be held at Warwick's Morgan Park Raceway this year due to some CAMS licensing issue. It's a more interesting track for drivers and spectators, but its a hell of a lot further to go to!

Oh you're kidding me! That's ridiculous. As much as I despise QR, at least it's not a million miles away. Roll on Lakeside v2, I say!

The next historic meet is the Historic Mt. Cotton Hill Climb. Its being held on the 22nd of April. I haven's been to this one before, but its supposed to be a good track.

Thanks very much! Here's the first one I did using the same process, with a link to the tutorial.
I love it! Since learning this technique I've not uploaded an untouched racing shot!
