Description Adventure Time sketch cover from this past weekends Special Edition NYC.
C'mon Boom!!!
This is definitely the worst sketch cover surface I ever worked on.
I do kinda like how it turned out though, all things considered.
I really wouldn't kill me if I had to draw Adventure Time characters all day

This was just an AT comic with a blank cover that I got from an artist friend. It had the text printed on it. I just did the illustration in markers.

What did you mean about the difficulty of the surface, however. And how did you get around that problem?

You can really see it in Ice Queen's dress. I just looks gritty because the paper wouldn't hold the markers right. I'd like the blue in the dress to be solid and smooth, not gritty.

Thanks a lot. The inks were done with black Copic multiliners 0.3 and 0.03.

I hate it when paper cannot take a good line, indeed you have to be picky with this kind od stuff - Looks like the art turned out classy in any case!

Maybe it's just me but I'm super picky about cleanliness. The paper won't absorb the markers properly. The colors all came out looking gritty and grainy and blending the colors were pretty much impossible. I could've gone over Ice Queen's dress 100 times and it still would've had that rough texture.
