Emery's gift as a bridge gave her access to nearly unlimited power with the guardians, some feared she would try and break the great seal that maintains the boundary between the spirit world and the real one and her mother Nightswift wasn't any help. However, Eme saw a different avenue to use her powers. Using shadow magic, Eme can sense very subtle movements. When Eme was little when most kids were breaking their toys, Eme would completely take them apart and put them back together so they would work smoother.

However, when Eme got older, she started to tinker with bigger and far more intricate devices like clocks, appliances, guns, and locks. Eme loved to pick locks, she would go around her house and pick any lock she could find. She wouldn't take anything, she just wanted to see if she could beat it. For her 10th birthday her father, Blitz Buster, got her a complete lock smith's set and a detailed training manual, Eme was ecstatic and tore into the lessons, eager to find more ways to pick locks.

Eme loves to see machines in action, all the tiny parts moving in harmony to achieve a goal, like mechanical poetry. Her personal favorite items to pick and tinker with are her mom's left hoof pistol, her father's clock, and her parent's weapon safe.
