Description a picture i made to try and answer a simple question with Fallout: new Vegas,

if the NCR is so big and resourceful, how come they have no armored vehicles? (at least ones that directly influence the Courier)

while the NCR was expanding throughout Oregon and Washington(, they stumbled across several privet owned tank museums that had survived the worst of the Apocalypse with most their vehicles intact.
the NCR quickly locked down the vehicles and started repairing and rebuilding them with discovered blueprints from said museums. one collector in Oregon had several Type 95 Ha-Go tanks restored and many more were in the process of being restored. this finding sparked a search for more armor, these tanks were simple to construct, repair, and maintain thanks to their simple construction.
about another year passed before NCR was actively deploying these new tanks in the Oregon-Washington region and were making plans to send them south to California until they found something else in Washington.

while on standard patrol through the outskirts of the ruins of Othello the convoy of Brahman with two Ha-Gos came under shell fire. the Ha-Gos were quickly destroyed and most of the Brahman killed. later recon reports found the Grand Historical Society or GHS.

soon after the bombs fell, tank collectors, National guardsmen, and a few other people took their strongest collector's tanks and fled into Othello's massive truck depo. once there they began fine tune their vehicles so they ran smoother, faster, longer. swapping gas engines for nuclear ones. the people of Othello were folded into their ranks and GHS swelled to a healthy 300 person army with strong civilian backing.
as the years went by the GHS evolved from a rag-tag team of survivors to chivalrous vehicle commanders and highly trained elite soldiers. the majority of the vehicles were World War Two era tanks their main prize being a King tiger tank, their uniforms are German based. every man had to adhere to a strict code of honor or risk eternal shame and dishonor. when NCR first encountered GHS, GHS was 350 strong with 12 tanks.

NCR ignored GHS for about a month and continued around them. GHS however, kept causing mounting personnel and more importantly vehicle losses. around this same time the NCR is expanding into Nevada and stumbles across New Vegas.
finally, NCR sent messengers to request GHS to stand down. GHS denied and prepared their defenses to anticipate an NCR attack. NCR at first tried peaceful diplomacy but GHS was convinced that NCR was trying steal their tanks, and rejected any sort of cooperation. NCR needed GHS delt with or thier operations in nearby Kennewick would always be in danger of GHS ambushes.

after a long month of pointless diplomacy and nine more NCR tank losses. the NCR launched a powerful jab at Othello. they were repulsed by GHS troops, NCR lost ten men while GHS lost only seven.
as the NCR launched attack after attack it became clear that NCR was taking large casualties but GHS was unable to replace lost men due to their relatively small size.
the fighting went on another week or so and NCR was given a generous amount of replacements, boosting thier numbers to 400 troops while GHS had been whittled down to just under 30 men. NCR however had lost a staggering 120 tanks while only claiming 2 GHS tanks ( PZ. 4 Ausf.J, PZ. 3 Ausf.L)

Othello had been overrun by NCR but GHS had retreated to their vehicle depo. NCR quickly surrounded them with the last of their precious tanks and dug in of a siege of the depo.
with no hope of victory, GHS arranged for a meeting of officers to discuss terms of surrender. GHS demanded that NCR hands over or destroys their tanks, claiming they were the only ones who truly knew how to use "steel stallions". while NCR demanded they hand over their tanks, claiming they would secure all routes in and out of Washington and protect civilians.

after a whole hour of talking, the two men came to an agreement, NCR would hand over their tanks as long as GHS guard caravans and NCR outposts in the Washington area.
around this point, NCR and Kaiser's Legion are fighting on the Hoover dam.

and so this is why you don't see NCR tanks in New Vegas!

(did i forget something? leave a comment below to tell me things i might have missed or should add. btw, DON'T inform me of requests or RPs please, save that for my home page please, tanks! ^^)
