Of course! How do you take photographs like these? I apologize if that is somehow a stupid question, but I am so intrigued by the shots you get.Β

It's not a stupid question, but I don't have that great of an answer lol. I just try to get as close as possible when doing things like this, and use the macro setting on my camera

Oh okay! Β It just seems as though it would be so hard, but then again you've had practice and it's all just the camera setting. Thank you very much for answering!Β

Well, it can be very hard for me to get the shot I want!! Since I only have auto focus available to me, I have to zoom in and out, move closer or further away, and press the button over and over again until it focuses on what I want it to. In this photo, I WANTED to take a picture of a single water drop. But I couldn't get close enough, and I couldn't get my camera to focus on just one drop.

Oh, yes, I see. Still, it's very beautiful. The attempt of just one would really be quite hard, so I understand.Β

Having a macro lens wouldn't necessarily get you a better image than this. I have a macro lens and I can't take shots this close up with it.

Well what I wanted to do was close up on a single droplet. But I couldn't get close enough without my auto focus turning it into one red blob. So I settled for this lol. Maybe what I was lacking for it is manual focus?Β

Even manual focusing is going to have its limitations, as there is always a minimum focusing distance. With my macro lens, the closest I can get to anything is about 12 inches away. If I use my teleconverter, I can get about 6 inches away, but then I get a lot of lens diffraction and things get soft around the edges. One of these days I might see if I can pick up an extension tube in place of that.
