September 12th, 2004: A large planetary invasion force consisting of a few million combatants starts a massive campaign on Proxima Centauri b, the closest neighbouring star system to Earth and the first planet humanity colonised outside the solar system. The city of New Los Angeles in the planet's American territory takes the brunt of the first wave and is quickly taken over in less than an hour and is left in ruins. By the 15th of October, over 25% of the planet was now occupied.

A nearby USAF base sends a distress signal to the rest of the planet and immediately scrambles all of its air assets and combat personnel in rapid succession in order to launch a desperate counter-attack to at least slow down advancing forces in the general area. The counter attack failed due to vastly superior numbers and over 7 thousand American soldiers died in an hour.

The invasion of Proxima Centauri b shocked all of humanity and its allied species, as the invasion was practically a stone's throw away from the planet where the human race originated. This prompted one of the biggest and fastest-acted mobilisations of human military forces in history, with over 150 million personnel being deployed to Proxima Centauri b to eradicate the invasion. The operation was concluded on November 3rd, 2004 but saw massive rebuilding operations that would take years to complete.

Post-invasion, a massive, permanent defensive blockade was established that closed off all territory within 25 light years of Earth, entry was only allowed with prior permission and check-ups.
