Kiriban Cat forThe colors are slightly off again unfortunately.
I had to make the background look much darker in order to make the details of the cat come out. The reds are now too strong and they make the cat look too pale...
It looks better in person
watercolors, salt, masking tape.

Örülök, hogy tetszik. A bajom az vele, hogy élőben nem ilyen kontrasztos és szerintem eredetileg sokkal harmonikusabbak a színek és van egyféle ragyogása a cicának, amit a fotó nem ad vissza.
Fehéren hagytam amíg a hátteret festettem, majd utána festettem rá a sötétebb részeket.

hm. nekem így is nagyon tetszik. igazából nem tudhatom, mert nem voltam ott amikor festetted, de ha így gondolod, akkor szerintem keverj bele több fehéret.

lol... i wasn't looking at the colors so much at first as the hilariously smug expression on its face. awesome job!!! i've said it before and i will again: you're a master at doing eyes, and these ones really capture the feeling

..know what? x) this doesn't have anything to do with anything.. Mio got in a fight last Friday, and now he's limping! nothing serious, we got him to the vet and he got a shot of antibiotics
but my dad accuses him of faking; he says he doesn't limp as bad at all when we're not there to watch

I used Van Gogh watercolor pans for the background and the cat itself is painted with St. Petersburg pans.
I'm used to working with St.Petersburg ones. I've been working with them for 2 years or so, I'm much more comfortable with them, I know what colors and effects I can get with those.
I saw a special offer on the Van Gogh ones and wanted to try them out. The colors are more vibrant and they have half pans and I'm not really used to them yet and I'm more attched to the oldies.

That's awesome! I myself use exactly the same manufacturers' colours.
And I started painting with the St. Petersburg ones,
when I got a set from my art teacher and I still like them very much.
Although, now that I've tried Van Gogh's and Schmincke's colours, too,
I would say I like Schmincke's the best. :}
Well, we're using the same colours, but the reason I don't get the same kind of
beautiful impression as you in your paintings is just because you're much more talented than I am.

The photo doesn't look too bad, but the original is much better. I'm critical of the photo here and not the painting itself. I just dislike it that the background became too dominant here.

I don't dislike the colors of the photo, but they're too strong here. In the original they're softer and the cat kind of has a warm glow...

Thanks so much for your condolences. It still hurts a lot some days, but knowing that he lives on in things like this and the fact that the new little prince gets very upset when I start feeling down about missing his big brother help keep my spirits up.
