Actually, in terms of Earth organisms, I'd say that Minecraft spiders are more similar to sea urchins. They have similar lightweight calcite plates making up their support systems and simplistic digestive systems.
Of course, Earth and Minecraft's biospheres are entirely independent, so no lineages are actually related.

not really. the fossil the reconstruction of a giant spider was based on turned out to be a mostly terrestrial "sea scorpion" that lived in swamps.

I actually didn't include golems in this project, they seemed too advanced for the intelligence level of the villagers.
