Both species are hydroids, adapted to the ground-air environment. They possess gas bags, the chemical composition of which may differ depending on the environment. Basically, it is carbon dioxide and molecular nitrogen. The bags themselves occupy more than 90% of the total volume.

The differences between them relate only to the method of reproduction.

Creepers store their gonads (eggs) inside their body, accumulating them and dispersing them in an explosion.

Ghasts are purely colonial organisms, passively drifting in the air. Their gonads (eggs) are stored in special zooids located around the oral opening. Male zooids detach from the colony and fly in search of another colony to fertilize. Female's - literally self-shoot themselves. Also, protective zooids were found in the Ghasts: they appear when the colonies are in danger and also shoot themselves in the direction of the aggressor. When they come into contact with an aggressor, they explode and spread toxins, causing a chemical burn.
