So this is the last evening I'm 23. From tomorrow on until the end of my days, I will remember this as the age when my beloved dad left me. It will be the age when I forfeited my talent to write about architecture. It will be the age when I doubted myself more than ever before.

But it will also be the age I saw amazing places. It will be the age I felt that I made no mistakes when choosing my field. It will be the age I cried from excruciating pain as well as from marvellous beauty.

With this in mind, I share with you the first shot I made when entering the breathtaking cathedral Notre Dame of Laon. It's vast, majestic and unbelievably bright. I'm sure my heart skipped a beat. It's one of the most amazing architectures I've seen - it's history is fascinating, it's appearence and detail absolutely stunning. It really hurt to leave. When looking at this picture, I remember how it was to stand down there, looking through a room I couldn't believe to exist. I wait for that heart-pounding I felt, and I'm sad that I can't feel it again like I always could, but I hope that it returns soon.
