Description okay, i'm posting this 'cause collages & photo montages seem to be flavour-of-the-month. and by god, i love them.

at the start of 2002, my graduating year at art school, my first unit explored DADA, and in particular the writing of tristan tzara. this collage was the front cover of my unit when i submitted it...

i think people often forget to realise the importance that DADA had on the art world, and in particular, the development of photo montage & collage, along with readymades, found objects, merz...so many more. long live DADA indeed!

----------------------------

DADA is a virgin microbe.
DADA is against the high cost of living.

DADA
limited company for the exploitation of ideas.
DADA has 391 different attitudes and colours according to the sex of the president.
It changes - affirms - says the opposite at the same time -
no importance - shouts - goes fishing.
DADA is the chameleon of rapid and self-interested change.

DADA is against the future. DADA is dead. DADA is absurd. Long
live DADA. DADA is not a literary school, howl.

(Tristan Tzara)

Dammit, reading the comments spoiled the fun of me naming the people. I love how this is black and white, I just feel like colour would ruin it, I guess because of the cross-gender thing going on. What's weird is that Irons looks like he belongs on those shoulders. The hair...?

I like the type, and how it's all cut off at the top as well.

i love Tristan Tzara. he's right, dada IS a virgin microbe.

this is a great cover, the typed page is a really effective addition. that reminds me, i don't think i've seen a typewriter in years. they make fun noises. do you have a real one?

WHO'S YER DADA??

Great collage. You've had an incredible amount of self control I think...most collages are PACKED with images and are very busy.

And it is interesting how trends travel throughout DA like viruses...I didnt really do much collage until I got on this site. I've been infected.
I should probably start wearing protection on my DA exploits...I wouldnt want to catch a case of Anthro-Art.

most of the dada things i've seen (though i'm not a connoisseur) where rather great

and they did influence early pop art, didn't they ?

btw, i like what you've did...
