Did you know about it? A majority of people who claim to like Russia, here, on dA, is concerned about communism. Why? I don't know. I am sure they know only about this historical accident, because they are uneducated. Or they believe in everything what is shown in Hetalia. People... Please. Books or historical pages don't bite. The only good thing is that people don't make a mainstream out of other episodes in history, these episodes aren't very popular and I love it. Yes, communism here, on dA, is more mainstream than serious. I don't know, what's more idiotic, this whole mainstream thing or real communists. You can help me to answer this question.Related content

Although I read a lot about the Communist era in USSR, I like pre-Communist Slavic history and culture a lot! Slavic countries have a very beautiful and interesting cultural and historical legacy ^^

Yes, the Soviet Union sure is an interesting episode, but it's definetely not the onlyΒ interesting episode in Russian history. Hell, one of my favorite historical Russian figures is Catherine the Great, from the Enlightenment in the XVIII century (there's a Lady Gaga song parody about her, which I can't help it but love. It's here. ) And what about all the Russian wonderful Realist literature of the XIX century? People need to educate themselves on Russian history, there are plenty of interesting episodes to learn about. Honestly.
(More directed to possible Hetalia fans watching this: ) And Hetalia is not a substitute for a History book. Β Yes, it indeed makes History interesting, but bear in mind that Hetalia does notΒ explain every single fact of History (accurately, at least.) You need to do some research. Take it from me, I like Hetalia, but I'd never take it as absolute truth. Hetalia is more of a satire than an actual historical series, imo.
