---------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone, this is Butler, my newest character. I designed him after my mother's dog who is a blue merle Australian Shepherd. I for one really like the red merles, so that is why I decided to make this boy a red merle. His name, Butler, comes from the idea I've had in my
mind that if one day I ever get my own dog, I would love to name him Butler, especially if the dog is darker in color. And lastly, the bowtie is due to my love of ties, I LOVE ties! I originally drew him with an actual tie, but it seemed out of place and too long so I decided to go with a simple bowtie instead.

Here is the dog I based him off of:
(It's Neela, my mom's dog)

Thanks for looking!

Open Facts:
-Butler is a very well-spoken dog. He speaks with poise and certainty, though never comes off in a conceited way. He is very confident in himself, but doesn’t allow that notion to make himself feel higher in rank than others he meets. He will undoubtedly put others and their needs far before his own.
-He is very attentive and responsible. He stands true to his calling name, he acts much like that of an aiding butler. He lives to serve others and enjoys working to help people.
-His nature can be rather stoic, and seldom does he smile. He is very serious when he is working and only has thoughts for the task at hand, or in his case, paw…
-He tends to walk and seem very stiff, almost mechanical. Some might say that he “marches” wherever he walks. He has devoted himself to dignity, which even reflects in his common movements.

Private facts:
-As a mixed-bred dog, he feels as though he doesn’t rank as high as other purebred creatures. He strongly dislikes it when others, typically bullies, call him “Mutt,” as it highly offends him. Butler feels very self-conscious over his bloodline, and wishes that he was of higher quality like his mother so that others would view him in a better light. But regrettably, he doesn’t get the respect he so deserves, which is why he decided to become much like a butler, so that others would see value in him rather than disregarding him for being a common mutt. But despite his personality and well-groomed appearance, it doesn’t change how others treat him.
-His mother was an aristocratic Australian Shepherd of higher quality who in the human world, and his father was but a lowly German Shepherd mix whose reputation as a “shelter-hopper,” deemed him unfit by the dog showing society. His mother, Classy, was very sophisticated and refined as a true lady. Her ranks as a show dog surpassed many of her breed. She was well-known in the show ring, and was viewed highly by other trainers and handlers in the human world. She could be at times quite conceited, often disregarding other dogs who seemed to all but worship over her. Some may have even considered her to be spoiled and a diva, but she devoted herself to her job, which was showing. Her extensive bloodlines dated back farther than she could fathom, which meant that her entire family was of the highest quality. Her being of such highly said quality meant that she could not associate with dogs of ranks lower than herself, for it would have been disgraceful to her family. But also in this notion, it meant that being that she was of such quality, few could measure up to her or her family so she was isolated from many, if not everyone else. She became nothing more than a puppet to her handlers that was shown in the rings like a piece of artwork, and was treated as such. She had the stipulation of “look, but do not touch!” which posed as a problem for her friends and followers. Though she was pampered and adored, she still lacked what she desired most, someone to truly love her. Her handlers began denying other dogs the right to breed with her, so she never had a partner while she showed, which saddened her and seemed to force her to become rather hard-hearted.
On a night when she was laying inside her cage awaiting the morning to come where she would parade around the show ring for the countless time, she dreamed of finding a mate who would treasure her and make her feel special in ways she never imaged. She loved being pampered by her handlers, but would give it all away if she found the one who could change her life for the better. She awoke the next morning with a clouded head from her night’s rest and it affected her performance in the show ring...quite badly. She was distracted and even snapped at the judge. They were asked to leave the ring due to her first ever disqualification. Her handler grew frustrated with her and forcefully shoved her back into her kennel upon returning to the back room. He slammed her cage door with anger and stormed out of the room, leaving her there in the cold dark room that entire day. Her handler had other dogs to show, so she wasn’t his main priority after that. She realized then how replaceable she was to him and that her existence was only to be a perfect piece of art and nothing more. These thoughts saddened Classy, she whimpered all day inside her lonely cage. Other handlers and trainers would enter the room with their dogs and she would cry out pleadingly to them, but they would simply ignore her, all far too busy with their own dogs to bother with her. She continued to wait for her handler to return, but he never came back that night and she was left in the back room all alone and in the pitch dark. She could hear noises around her but couldn’t see anything, which frightened her. After several days passed and her handler didn’t come back to claim her, she was sent to a foster home, and after that she was placed in a shelter. She was scared out of her mind and knew she would lose her life in that dreadful place if she didn’t find a way out. No one wanted her, despite her striking beauty, because she was highly aggressive when others tried to handle her. She would soon be put to sleep if she didn’t learn to trust others. After nearly two weeks of being there, she had begun to give up the will to live, and had stopped eating and drinking. That next morning she was to be euthanized due to her decreasing health, but that changed when the shelter staff drug in a stray that was all but unfamiliar to them. He was a big lanky mongrel who the community had named “Vandal,” due to his destruction of properties in search of food and shelter while on the street. The large dog had the reputation of getting adopted and escaping subsequently after from his new homes only to be caught again and placed back up for adoption. He was like the con artist of the dog world. He never wanted to be placed into a home, he wanted to be free and roam the streets. He preferred the risks that the wilderness provided him, he was a thrill-seeker just like his father. He was placed in the kennel right next to Classy, a divider panel separating the two from sight. He heard the faint sobs of a female coming from the kennel next to his. He inquired into the metal wall with concern, only to receive a threatening bark in response. She knew of his type and wanted not to be associated with a common and deprived shelter dog, so she denied his act of concern towards her. Later that night when the shelter had closed and everything was quiet, Classy could hear the kennel next to hers rattling strangely. The next thing she knew, she saw a large dog waltzing past her cage happily without a care in the world, she scoffed at his lighthearted attitude. How could any dog be that cheerful in such a terrible place? She wondered. She could hear him walking around the many rows of kennels, as his toenails clicked against the concrete with his heavy-footed steps. When he made his way back up towards her row and stopped in front of her cage he peered carefully inside, she lunged defensively at the chain-link door in hopes of scaring him away. He didn’t flinch, instead he smiled approvingly at her and stood to his hind legs as he unlocked the top of her kennel door to release her. From there he walked away and made his own way to the lobby where he exited the building through a small window. Needless to say, she followed after him and the two never separated after that. They learned about one another and became nearly inseparable.
They had a litter of puppies after their first two years together. The litter of four consisted of all boys, Butler being the smallest of the litter. He was the closest one who resembled his mother in appearance. Once of age, he and his brothers left their family and made their own way in the world.

Character Info:
-Butler is very quiet but is well-spoken when he is addressed. His attitude is a lot like his mother when is comes to being sophisticated, but his personality and good nature comes from his father, who was very kind to all creatures. He did not see pure-bred for mixed-bred. Everyone was equal to him, and that is how Butler views others as well.
-He is very assertive and doesn’t have to be told what to do.
-Butler is very strong natured but can get his defenses up when someone talks about him being a mutt.

I love red merle dogs, since my own dog is a red merle Australian Shepherd mix, and I've had him for seven years and eight weeks.

Aw wow, that is so awesome! You should design him into a character and then him and Butler could meet up! xD

Dude, that is so funny, I had to laugh to myself. Muttler.

Well, I ain't so sure. He's an old dog and tends to be slightly cautious around other dogs. The only exception is a dog who lives one floor above us, and Diablo HATES him. Real-life wise, he's... weird.

Two years old *I think*

That's him and his daughter just this summer. July to be exact.
That's his daughter.

What. xD I'm a cruel nicknamer.

Aw, those are cute pictures. They are both really nice looking dogs.

If you will look at the artist comments for this piece, I actually have a picture of my mom's Aussie, Neela.
