A huge proportion of Saryu’s personality comes from her experiences as a child/teen in Delverne and the judgement she faced. While some could take it to make them kinder, for Saryu it made her play her cards close to her chest. She struggles to open up to people in any way, whether its a friendship, relationship or even to tell others of her emotions. She would rather struggle on in pain that admit it and appear 'weak' in her mind.

She doesn't like being wrong, and well lets face it who does? But she tends to stick strongly to her opinions arguing them even if she know’s she’s wrong. However Saryu does not believe in lying. If she thinks something she will say it. Forget the consequences. This attitude more than might have gotten her into trouble in the past. She can be quite mean intentionally and is so especially when she gets flustered - as a defence mechanism.

However despite outwardly appearances, Saryu can be a kind person, especially towards animals. She is just quite emotionally constipated and socially awkward. More rarely so to humans and elves, and even then she has a bias to those under the age of five. She is also quite vain though she would not admit to it. She prides herself on her work ethic and has big plans to move up the ranks. However, this being said she probably will struggle with this as she is not the best at team-work or interpersonal relationships.

History:

Saryu was conceived human father and light elf mother in the city of Miras.Saryu’s mother, Elria was adventurous light elf as a child and that continued into her adulthood leading her to leave Delverne to travel all the way to Miras. While the two were in a committed relationship, a child was something Elria soon realised she was not ready to look after without family support and so they left Miras to head back to her family in Delverne. Feeling unwelcome and out of place in Elria’s family home, within a few weeks Saryu’s father Iain returned once more to Miras, and was rather happily seen out the door by Elria’s family.

Saryu had a rather uneventful childhood, besides sticking out like an odd thumb with her reddish hair among all the other elves. And of course there was always the undercurrent of racial tension that right from young Saryu could feel, shaping her into a more introverted soul. She has had the pleasure of being blamed for others faults and believed it was purely because she was a half elf - which to be fair to her was true in some cases.

Saryu’s mother raised her religious of course, after all that was a huge factor to bring Elria back to Delverne as while the majority of the population of Miras worshipped Aurea, the culture was different to that of Elria's home. Every year Saryu and her mother would take a trip out of Delverne to the outskirts of Miras where her father ran his family business of breeding and rearing hunting birds for the nobility.

Each trip back to Delverne, Saryu felt that many of the elves judged herself and her mother for Saryu’s existence and continued contact with the human father. However more keenly she could feel they way the elves thought of age, and treated her as a youth while in the more densely human populated Miras she was given increasing liberty and responsibility of her own. For a good part of her life up until 17-18 Saryu was very shy and nervous, trying her best to blend in, hide her human genetics when in Delverne or more successfully hide her elvish heritage when visiting her father in Miras, anxious that she would face similar discrimination in Miras as she had in Delverne which much to her surprise was not so. She faced very little, if any stigma in Miras, and usually any she faced was based more on her personality than her heritage despite what she thought. She also found it easier to shrug off human judgement (based on her own learned prejudices, not that it was a conscious decision). Eventually Saryu became more confident in herself, and changed from denying who she was to embracing it. Her personality at this point did a rapid turnaround over the course of a couple of months from non-confrontational to defensive

On reaching twenty, Saryu had enough of Delverne and moved permanently to Miras along with her mother, her parents properly reunited once more. Her family also hoped that shifting the girl would make her more likely to settle down and find someone to start a family with because despite her own unusual upbringing, they have high hopes of her having a relatively normal rest of her life/marriage. However these hopes were crushed as Saryu has basically no interest in a relationship and struggles to even keep friendships. Initially on arriving in Miras, Saryu was staying with her parents and helping out with her father's business, but within a year or so that became tedious to the girl. She loved the freedom that flight seemed to give the birds she handled and wanted to deal with the larger Pegasi she'd seen around and ridden on occasion. She found work with pegasi breeders through her father’s connections, much to the horror of her mothers family and remained there for a couple of months until buyers came in from the Flight Regiment. From then on she realised that was what she wanted to do with her life and enlisted to the Legion to the dismay of both sides of the family.

From there she moved to the Flight Regiment where she is currently, and is planning to work her way up through the ranks.
