Thanks to this her mother was forced to work 2 jobs, keeping her away from home and away from her 2 children, Tess's younger brothers. She keeps her sexuality a secret from her father, and her mother has yet to accept her, because of this Tess is bitter toward her parents and sometimes is to the entire city's population.
She works out a lot since she was the only child in a household that wanted sons.
