there’s a bit of an experiment for a project that might take place somewhere in the future... My grandgrandma and her sort of portrait *not young, not old* I guess?

So... There she is, Bulgarian Jewish girl from Sofia. Seamstress who fell in love with a colleague of Czech origin whose parents came to Bulgaria from a small village in central Bohemia. The guy was catholic, they’ve dated for long 9 years until they’ve finally got the parents’ consent and married. They had a baby girl and once communists took over the country, they’ve moved to Czechia - the young family and also my grandgrandpa’s brother with a wife. Came back to the village, built a house, started a new life... Only the communists came here soon after, too. They didn’t escape them.

The baby girl grew up to be my grandmother, her two brothers who were supposed to come to the world never outlived the delivery, one being stillborn, second dying soon after. Grandgrandma didn’t get broken. She brought up her daughter, helped to bring up her two grandchildren and lived long enough to meet me, though she died not long after my birth.

With her and the grandpa our family got a mighty no-church spin. They both had to abandon their religion to be together and living in communist country, they never got back on that route again. She kept her Jewish ancestry secret, considering it dangerous.

Uneducated but said to be wise, caring, liked by her clients. Small life but clearly very fullfilled.
