Description
Since I enjoyed making the Balthazar character page so much (and because ~MetWinnerYuy asked..) I did one for Gabe, who I've neglected dreadfully in the past and who deserves more love.
I also tried extra super hard with this one because its my 300th deviation! Fancy that!
1) Heaven when the angels had much less to worry about than they do now. Gabe's a better older brother than those moody douchewads in the corner. (From left to right: Balthazar/ZaZa
riding a magical angel shield (don't tell me they don't have them... 
), Castiel, Uriel and Anna on Gabe's back, Michael, Raphael and Lucifer looking on with disdain. )2) Oh, why did it all go wrong...
Gabriel's quite a tragic figure in my mind. All the more so because he pretended to be so happy and carefree as the Trickster. 3) I hope you can guess what this is supposed to be. Gabe seems to me the last guy I'd choose to break such important news. Mary thinks so too, apparently.
4) and 5) Changing Channels sillyness. Its still one of my fav episodes ever. Dean taking Gabe's flippant attitude personally... and Cas getting sensitive about.. um... duct tape.
Ha, I love Misha, of course, but his lips always look so dry and cracked!! Its called vaseline, Mish-Mish... use it! I joke, I joke... 6) Is this not the perfect crossover for Gabe?!
Even though oompa loompas freak me out a bit I had to draw this (and obvously i'm referencing the Gene Wilder version... not the Johnny Depp one. 
)Yep, for once, completely happy with how this turned out.
Fav bits are Emo!Gabe, the holy oil circle and duct taped Cas in that thought bubble! Look ma, I used references!

You know honestly it was always the Angels who were supposed to be Good that seemed the worst. Gabe has been Loki the god of tricks for thousands of years now, but of the 4 Archangels he's the nicest and best. Lucifer was corrupted by the mark of Cain so we don't get to see what his original personality was like but from even looking at corrupted Luci he doesn't seem completely evil. He's honest about who and what he is, he's lashing out in pain, both against his father and against his brother who put him in that cage. Raphael is a douche, a power hungry coward that has really too little screen time to flesh him out. But he seems to be a power obsessed jerk. But worst of all is Micheal, the one who is supposed to be the supreme good. He's a prick, a asshole, who not only treats humans like dirt but seems to get off on controlling them, using them. He especially in the body of the young John Winchester seems to feel that all should fall at his feet and worship the ground he's on, like it's a blessing a gift to be used his his vessel. Then there is his whole spit with Lucifer, he just can't live down his older brother. He has to prove that he's the better son, has to kill his brother to show he's purer, more worthy of God's love. And he's will to start the Apocalypse, to cause Armageddon and kill billions of humans - who he thinks are dirt anyway - destroy the world to do it, just so maybe in his twisted vision God might come back. Sorry. I just really loathe Micheal in the series. Raphael too.

I'm not religious myself but i have heard that the story of the Prodigal son in the bible has the message that you have to fail and make mistakes to become your best self or divine (i believe in that story there is a younger brother who makes mistakes and an older one who always does the right thing but his arrogance is his downfall because god prefers the younger for all his faults) - so considering what you were saying that makes perfect sense for the angels!! It would interesting to know if there was anyone on the writers team who considered that sort of thing whilst writing the angels...
