Another shot of our current foster pup, Ariel.

Ariel is a 9 month old pup we are fostering while we search for her forever home. Thanks to careless breeding she has untreatable kidney dysfunction - a congenital defect. She also has hip dysplasia, eye problems, an inverted vulva and a long list of other health issues. Due to her kidney problems, we are unable to safely perform surgery to correct her other health issues, so we are instead managing her symptoms through skilled care and the use of supplements. Ariel is only expected to live a short time due to her compromised kidneys and will likely go into renal failure at a very young age.

Her health issues could have been prevented through proper screening of her parents to ensure they were not passing along hereditary defects. Instead, this loving, friendly, playful pup will have a lifetime of infections and pain requiring constant care to ensure she is comfortable. Such a waste....all in the name of profit for a puppymill or backyard breeder....and a pet store.

She was originally purchased from a Pet Store in Toronto by people who had no idea how much work a Newf pup can be. She had a severe urinary infection when purchased, as well as giardia. After months of health issues including cherry eye and recurring infections, accompanied by behavioural issues from lack of training, her family came to us in desperation and surrendered her to our rescue, Newf Friends.

Used to spending her days tied to a porch, and having had no training Ariel was in need of some serious training when she arrived in our care - she is affectionately called the Wild Child! With some TLC and a little work she is blossoming into a wonderful girl. Our little Wild Child is quickly becoming the perfect little Newf pup that she was meant to be. All she needs now is a loving home to call her own where she will be loved and adored for however long she is with us.
