Happens to me all the time.
People tell me my ships, mecha, etc. look like some other SF show and I'm like "WHAT?"
It could also be just my own internal "eye" categorizing the art-piece into a comfortable label.
Humans tend to do that.
Doesn't change the fact that you did a fantastic job.

and think of it as an homage to the original creators.
