Description Since I'm busy with creating a nice drift car of a Korean classic have I decided to share my small Korean car collection.

On the left do we have Hyundai's very first self developed car they ever released: the MK1 Hyundai Pony, made by Hyundai Motor Company. (limited aniversary edition which is only available at Hyundai dealerships)

On the right do we have the successor and the younger brother of the MK1: the MK2 Hyundai Pony made by Clover Toys. (was also only available at Hyundai dealers by purchasing a brand new Hyundai back in the mid 80's)

Clover Toys models are very rare here, albeit that the early Hyundais weren't very reliable in the 80's and 90's didn't these diecast pullback toy cars sale very well. Clover Toys was releasing quite many Korean cars until the late 90's, with the MK2 Pony and Hyundai Stellar ( autobestpics.com/img/Hyundai-S… ) as their very first releases. After doing only Hyundais did Clover Toys also release models of other Korean car brands: Ssangyong, Daewoo and KIA.

I hope to finish the Korean drifter car project soon, but I have to make some details on the body of the car before I can start building it.

The mint-green MK2 is in absolutely mint condition, I bought it on an auction site for a reasonable price with it's original packaging included! It doesn't have as much details as my Academy Models kit car, but who cares, it's nice to me.

Classic Korean cars from the 80's are threatened with extinction, and need some more appreciation! Enjoy these horses!

And I hate to say, these two cars came out during the era when strong dicatorship was in hand in South Korea, A.K.A Commmunism, which ended in 1988 after a huge demonstration took place in Kwangju province and Seoul city, (similar to the Ladas in Russia) Solely for the company's profits, so quite a lot of them = badly made.

Indeed, I've read that they used low quality paint, and the car bodies had a poor rust protection. Because of terrible rust problems did nearly all those pre-1988 Hyundais disappear from the Dutch roads in no time.

I can order one for you at the local Hyundai dealer if you like. You can get them in red, and blue.

The MK2 is a toy, but they didn't release a smaller scale of them.

Jealous of both. Really need some Clover diecast, Korean cars are notably absent from my collection.

Clover Toys are pretty rare, but not expensive. Also, those MK1 Ponies are available on Ebay as well.
