for me it's "did I get the stickyness off my hands? Did I make sure to wear a different jacket today? Don't want to get stuck in a time loop... Did I do/say this one thing so the house wouldn't blow up? Did I count my steps down the stairs this time? Must... clear... throat... must... crack knuckles...!!!"

Can't say I won the battle exactly, but I am feeling better in some ways, so it is easier to live with. (Although it goes a bit up and down.)

Thats impressive! My boyfriend has OCD too. He was diagnosed when he was 17, now he's 20, the worst has passed but e still cleans stuff a LOT. Any tips?

Hmmm... Well... It's kind of difficult to say because OCD can be so different from one person to another. I find that a medicine called Fluoxetin has helped a bit (with the OCD itself and also the anxiety that comes with it), also to kind of try to let go of the control. I also noticed that if I give in to one OCD thought/action then it it grows bigger and I get more and more things I have to do because of OCD. I reached a point where I just couldn't keep things clean and under control anymore, it just got impossible, so I kind of at one point had to accept that things get "dirty" and that I must learn to try to touch at least some of them anyway. (It's difficult, and a on going process.) Another tip is one I actually saw on television. To tell your self for instance, I won't worry about my OCD before 6 o' clock at night. It is hard to fight OCD both psychologically and physically, but it really is worth it. Also I am a christian. I have to say though that what helped me I think the most was to trust in God. I used to be so afraid because if I didn't always follow my OCD, something horrible would happen to me or someone I loved, but after I found salvation again I have been able to trust more in God. I just try to trust him to look after me and my loved ones and believe that he has our best interest at heart. My OCD goes a bit back and forth, but it is nowhere near as bad as it was. Support, understanding and patience is important for a person with OCD, your boyfriend is happy to have you with him. My family (both animals and humans) helped me keep trying. And I noticed that my dogs got worried and nervous because of my OCD, and then I kind of had to really try to get better for them. Please tell your boyfriend, I know to a certain degree what he is going through and I hope he will feel better

What if you're having trouble with your faith because of the constant "I'm posessed, I'm seriously posessed and evil oh..oh please no...but I must be, how could this happen I'm doomed AAH!" thoughts in your head?
I know God's there for me,but that stupid idiot thought is always punching me in the brain.

Before I leave school, even if I know I put it in there, I still recheck and recheck and can observe the smallest difference in weight to tell if something is missing. and I have a panic attack if at one point it isn't there.

I have a boyfriend with a pretty serious case of OCD. Before yesterday, it had been two months since I had seen him. OCD affects us all, because we all know people with this disorder. It pisses me off when people make fun of this neurosis, as if its nothing.

Wow.This means so much to me.I have OCD,and yah,it's not exactly a nice stroll through the park.Sometimes I have to do this with a lightswitch...I'll know I turned it off,but I have to go and keep checking that it's off, even if I know that it's off.And if I don't,I feel like something really bad will happen to me,such a having a painful death the next day,so I have to.One time I had to check it 32 times...it makes me really frustrated. This really means a lot.

Although I don't have to check light switches, this really touches me. I've been a sufferer of OCD since I was eight, but I only got diagnosed when I was seventeen (last year). It has been a struggle, and just reading these comments has helped me more than months of therapy. It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone, although I do not wish this on anybody.
