I'm an atheist, but I used to go to church a long time ago, I think it was mormon, didn't make much difference to me. I still occasionally go to their dinners and stuff though. lol

Falling asleep is church was almost like mandatory at some point. I just couldn't stay awake. My child brain did not possess the fortitude. The singing was about that that would do it.

I'm all too familiar with falling asleep in church, I hated waking up early in the morning on weekends after five days of school, and saturday is here, early morning cartoons until evening and video games, then comes sunday, nothing to watch on TV, and spending school length hours nearly in church, even as a kid I was an inquisitive one and could easily understand things, even the sunday school lessons, it was too easy to figure out, but fast forward years later to now, well, I'm not an atheist, but nor am I a bible thumper, my belief is a unique mix that stems from things like ghost hunting, paranormal shows like Ghost Adventures, because think about it, they talk about in church how you don't meet god until you're dead and in the ground, well, what better proof of life after death than hearing EVPs, seeing full bodied apparitions appear on either thermal or full spectrum cameras, be it digital still photo or video format, and physically having the environment be influenced by an unseen force that responds on request. My belief is a melding pot, reincarnation, multi and metaverse theory, many times with anything spiritual you'll hear of other worlds and realms, well that couples with multiverse and metaverse, I believe that with reincarnation, you don't come back to this world specifically, but maybe a mirror or duplicate, probability and possibility is infinite, and I mean shoot, if demonic possession can be recorded and not be a hoax, then it's only logical to say "hey, there's a hierarchy going on", like a chain of command, that chain of command like outlook is why I do believe in the big G, as much as I hate him for personal reasons, like the whole "why are we forced to suffer, why would these abominations happen if he were truly as kind as we think", so on and so forth, I'm not gonna pray or praise, but like so many others, I can only speak from my own point of view from what I see and know, as for psionics and chakra, ki/qi/chi, I also believe that energy itself with enough practice can become strong enough to ward off evil souls, the second they try to get into you with possession or oppression, the energy itself could make them run for the hills like they just got a hot dose of acid to the face, we have to remember, the souls of the dead were once living and breathing, some have tales to tell, some just want to eff with us because they got nothing better to do and who's gonna stop 'em, just like internet trolls and bullies, there are the good, there are the bad, the only difference is the plain of which we currently exist.

I already gave my speech on YT but I will copy and paste it here:

Ok! Let me tell you the tale of my adventures in different types of churches and my life now. When I was little, I use to go to a Catholic church with my great grandma because almost every weekend, my sis and I would spend the night over at her place to spend time with her, grandma, and our cousin if she's there. Soooooooo, we would get up around 5 am because the church started at 7...or 8 ( I don't know it's been like 11-13 yrs since this), so you know what that means?! Yep! My sis and I would fall asleep because it is so boooooooring at the Catholic church. Didn't help that on some Sundays we would go to Sunday school which is equally boring if we do lessons but sometimes we would watch a Jesus cartoon or something. Before we moved away from our GG (great-grandma), we got those newspaper comics from the priest's wife, so that's usually the only thing we look forward to on Sunday lol. A few years later, my mom started taking us back to the church she goes to which is a Pentecostal close to Downtown Chicago. Talk about a major difference between the Catholic and it (other than the fact that the black ratio is humongous). So much livelier with its full orchestra set, choir, lots of seats, and up to 3 floors. Anyway, didn't really went to Sunday school there until my mom found out years later, so my sis and I hang out with her in the huge main area. Love the music, but the lecture went on for about 2 hours before leaving. We didn't sleep because our mom would slap us if we did (she's more of a bible thumper than the both of us, but this will come later). Later on when we went to Sunday school and it ends, all of the kids went into a different area where if the main one is full (or doors are closed off), people go to that room. Let's just say my sis and I had games on our phone and yeeeeeeeah. Forgot to add, when we were younger, we were more like little angels than at this point. Moving on, when my sis and I got older and our grandparents moved to a new area, we went with our great-grandma to a new church which is a Baptist church. Nearly fell asleep, Sunday was boring as always (plus we had HW; WHO DOES THAT FOR SS?!), and this time, we both came to an agreement to get baptized there (we were still good kids). Really wasn't so bad since every morning we would get food. Missed getting the newspaper's comics though. More years later, my family moved farther south from the city, we attended to a more mixed Pentecostal church. It's alright, but I do missed the gospel choir than the Christian rock one at this one, and they also have no orchestra. The good thing about this church is that they last an hour long and play 3 to 4 songs in the beginning, talk about some sort of program they are doing then get to the short lecture which is actually more realistic and can be funny thanks to the down-to-earth pastor. Too bad at this point, my sis and I are basically the type of Christian (like you) that don't want to attend church, but believes God yet give other religions our ears. My favorite is the Buddhist philosophy. I feel like I connect with the chakras and ideal of it better.

I was raised Baptist, church every Sunday with my family, excluding my parents because they decided they didn't want to go anymore. I enjoyed it, did events like VBS and other little holiday things but I wasn't SUPER involved. I had my church friends I only saw there, it was nice. When I started to get older, I started to rebel more. And when I say rebel, it was like saying I'm going to the restroom during the sermon and go eat the donuts we had in the kitchen. Then it became roaming the empty building during the service and playing in the gym. Eventually I would leave and go to the water park across the street and be back right before it let out and no one would notice I was gone. The reason I stopped going to church though was the fact that I was being bullied by a guy I was basically raised with. I was in his Sunday School class since we were toddlers but grew up very differently. He was more like the jock-type and I grew up to be the artistic-scene-type thing person...BUT! I had developed feelings for him. One trip the youth group took was to a place called Lake Rudolph here in Indiana. It was the second night into the trip and storming. I was in my room, basically hiding because I am afraid of storms and was texting him trying to calm down. The storm passed and everyone went outside to roast marshmallows and just be together. Without my knowing, he went to my other friends and told them to erase his number and texts from my phone. They instead came to me and told me, I asked him why (in my state of confusion and hurt feelings) and he yelled at me saying things like; "leave me alone" "i hate you" "dont talk to me ever again emo trash". I was about 14-15 at the time and that was when I decided enough was enough. I stopped going to church all together. Now I identify as Agnostic and pull my beliefs from other religions and traditions from all over. Im happy with where I am now, and to me, thats all that matters.

I was a Christian for a majority of my Childhood. Like major Christian. Like Asshole levels of Christian. However, as I grew older, I started to understand the stories a lot more from the bible. And by understand, I mean question. And I see why churches don't like that. Before long, I started to think God wasn't to great. Then I started thinking he was a complete asshole, with the whole "Flood and murder the entire earth shit" (Jesus though, he sounds like a pretty cool dude) Before long, I had completely gone 180 degrees, and was now a bona fide atheist. Only I didn't really lose the 'asshole' part of 'asshole Christian'. So I was one of those shitty Atheists who believed that you were an idiot if you didn't believe what I believed. I only really stopped when Immigration became a really strong topic here in England. Everyone was going on about Muslims and Islam being evil, and I was like "Their bible says don't kill anyone and be kind..." and I realised how I had treated Christians was wrong. Now, even though I'm still an atheist, I'm very protective of other people's beliefs. I know a lot of good can come from religion, and I shouldn't treat people differently because of what happens after you die.

I go to church, but the only reason I want to go to church is to just listen. Not to praise God even further or anything, but to poke holes in the Bible and what not. That is all I have the attention span for when I am at church. If you can read me a couple of verse or your explanation of why things work the way they do in Gods way, I can probably poke a hole in it the size of two cruise liners stacked on top of each other. I don't hate religion, but I am a man of logic. I believe in facts, not the word of people whose very words are constantly updated through the years.

I go to a presbytirian church (SORRY FOR MISSPELL) IT IS F***ING BORING. I love god, but I hate the people that go there and I hate it when I have to go to the bathroom everyone stares at you like you did something that is unforgiveable. This one lady, Mrs.B, is constantly talking to my parents about: "You're not at church to make friends, you're hear to learn about the Lord." I'm like: "WHERE THE F*** DID YOU GET THAT IDEA FROM LADY?!" None of the kids at my church like me or hang out with me, so how the hell is that making friends? Anyways, what I am saying is I totally get the church being boring felling

I went to a pentecostal church when I was married, and I had no choice in whether I went or not because...marriage. It was impossible to sleep in that church because pentecostals kick into "holy roller" mode and start screaming, speaking in tongues, and LITERALLY running around the place all while screaming.

So you're a Cusp too? I'm a Capricorn-Aquarius one. Never understood that, but I'm sure it's pretty badass. If you've got info on that, I'm willing to hear. :3

As for my experiences in Church, I'd always end up falling asleep which was understandable because the Church was always super warm and the pews were comfy and we always sat somewhere in the back because we'd end up getting there just before the sermon started.

About three years ago, so when I was 17, I started to ask questions to my youth group and the pastors that'd say their things and preach and be all super awesome because we had awesome pastors. One pastor was amazing when he answered my question of "So...if the Bible says not to be homosexual and to hate them...then why does it say to love everyone, no matter what?" He told me that you love everyone, not matter what or who they are, because that's best thing to do. God'll judge 'em, not you. This came to be my view towards Church. The place was full of nice people, awesome teachers and really passionate music.

That is of course until the awesome pastor had to go to California because of a great job offer. The pastor that replaced him was a douche. He tried to change how things worked in the Youth Group, which turned into more of just a bunch of small groups of people who liked each other and didn't allow others into them, and wasn't much of a teaching place, more of just a place to talk. Couldn't ask questions because nobody truly knew how to answer them. And when I asked the new pastor, he put off my questions with the classic "Just read the Bible and you'll understand."

Plus, the dude HATED my sister. My sister was 19, I was 17, and I witnessed a lot of hate towards my sister from this guy. My sister was part of the Youth Group band because she liked to sing, and she can sing pretty well too! Well, one day before the group started, my sister came to me on the way to the group to say we're leaving now. She was crying. I didn't ask questions, I just went home with her. She stayed at home for the next Sunday. I asked what happened last week, and it turns out that she had been kicked out of the band. Reason? She had tattoos and dyed hair. The new pastor said that she looked like a harlot, would corrupt the young minds of the churchgoers and he didn't want her around the group. I was FURIOUS! I was seriously tempted to punch this guy in the face. The next Sunday afterwards, I kept getting wicked glares from other group members because I walked in with bleached hair. Like they'd never seen a guy go from brown hair to blonde hair. The pastor kept a serious evil glare at me every time I spoke up about something. Well, I gave up. I didn't go to Youth Group, and then pretty much ended going to Church. Like, I still believe in God, but I just don't like the atmosphere of my church. It's not good at all.

So yeah, that's my worst experience with church. Fun, huh?

Sorry if this is too much. ._.

My experiences are similar though the religion not so much(?) because I used to be Catholic.

As a kid, got spanked/hangers/all sorts of crap up until I was around 8 or so for so much as not kneeling. Seriously, I got the belt for that before back then.
Anyways, I was kind of into the religion somewhat, and then later on when my parents split at 11 kind of... fell out of it completely, not that I was ever the most religious anyways but I'd have despised it if anything if not for my dad. Fastforward three years later when I'm 14 and onwards, and while I technically "believe" some things I already don't agree with everything, and also if anything find it more inconvenient than anything else. And by the time I'm 16-18, I literally won't go to church without falling completely asleep, nodding off every five minutes and almost falling over if I'm standing up....

And then, when I finally had enough of being a Catholic, my dad still expected me to go to church while I was renting with him. Anyways, from there started simply sleeping, or even listening to music on headphones and playing games in there, which pissed him off (and equally pissed me off, because I was 18 nearing 19, paying 750$/month rent, and expected to go to church I didn't believe in anymore and expected to just do nothing there) and perhaps almost got us in a fight in the middle of mass, and that was that with me having to go anymore, not that it matters much as I've moved out since then.

First off, this video was cute and I could really relate to it (falling asleep, getting bored, dragged, questions/opinion ignored). I was sorta dragged to church until I moved out of my parents house. While there were a few times I'd go on my own choice or even go to my friend's. I wouldn't say I'm a "hardcore" Christian but I do consider myself one and will pray and lay down some knowledge every blue moon. I am open to other things too and like hearing about other religions and such.
I began to slow down going to church after they called out my sister and her friend for not coming to children's alter and adding "Y'all not too pretty to walk worship" or something like that: it was for those under 18 and they were both like 19, 20. And also the money part some times bothered me but I give what I can and see fit.

I was dragged to church until I was about 18.Β  Started wondering what it's all about, realised I don't know. that's about where I am currently. I am slightly amazed by Scientology. most churches are "we need it to glorify god!" the L Ron HUbbarders are "WE'LL GET RID OF THE DEMONS IN YOU FOR MONEY! MORE MONEY YOU GIVE = CLEANER YOU ARE!"
stopped really caring after my parents died.Β  thinking about trying it again, but not sure. may just feel really really outtaplace when am there.

Oh my god.Β  Seeing this really takes me back to my days with the Youth Group, I joined the youth group whens 15 years old and I was a freshman in high school at the time, I was a very lonely guy because my friends never approach me which I have autism, I went to youth group which I came along because my cousin he part of the group and came at his house because the group was there along with a very few people I knew. I loved it so much I would go there like every Friday nights, we would do that in church and sometimes we go to any other groups house for a movie night, sometimes we watch a few hockey games and we would go camping at a lake for the weekend or so. In winter we would go sliding, play street hockey and do gifts exchange.

Yes we did a few sing a longs and we talk about aΒ stories from the bible. But technically I'm not really a Christian, but that doesn't really mean I don't believe in God or the lord Jesus Christ, I do believe in them and I respect religion. The pastor was awesome and sometime after I joined the group weΒ becameΒ friendly and that moment I consider him as one of best friends.

Since the summer of 2005 which 10 years ago, when I heard the church couldn't pay the pastor more because of budget, we kinda disbanded and I was disappointed about it and just when I was about to graduate from high school too. Still I'll never forget those days I wish that we would have a reunion.

Personally, I don't believe in god, but I also wont say he doesn't exist. If he does or not doesn't change my life, so unless he appears in front of me to prove his existence... I'll just go on my merry way like always.
There was a time in church where I thought I got something from god though. School was at church like every year, but at one point, I was bored and falling asleep... when I hear a clink sound. I look down and see a coin. I look to my sides, no1 seemed to have dropped it, I look up, there was a place someone could be, but no1 was there, so... to me, it seemed the coin came from nowhere... so I took it.
At that point, I thought that one single coin was from god or something similar at least, and I have never forgotten this moment. One of the few moments in church I wont forget (I was around... 8 or 9 at the time.)

Ok sen im gunna tell u the first time i went to church. Or what i could remember. Ok so my grandparents took me to their Catholic chruch right. I thought it was ok sitting on benches singing songs it sounded fun. But it all went downhill when it got to the cookie waffer things and the funny juice. When they said "blood of jesus and the body of jesus" i flipped out. Later that night when i went home to my mommy i was terrified and i told her church is full of vampires. No lie. I was like i dunna 4-6. So yaaaa that was my first experience.
