Description This is the first Dino model I built... I actually had this guy in a box since they came out in 1993 and finally decided my skill had improved to the point is was time to give it another go.

The sign was made via help from Razzie and her Jurassic Park site and forums.

This one is slighlty larger than what attacked Nedry...but the sign for that one would have been almost 24" tall...so no go..lol Maybe she's a larger one that came along later or just perhaps that sign is farther away than it looks..it's up to the viewer.

i know, it just wanted to make sure he/she knew the name. it really bugs me when people don't bother to learn the name so they just call it spitter

Thanks ! About 6' tall and 20' long...quite a bit bigger.. lol I'd say the one in the film was a juvenile though. Crichton also wrote it was a different color..patterned more like leopard...and though venomous the novel Dilo was frill-less too.

Haha, in the book wasn't the dilaphosaurus supposed to be 8 feet tall or something like that? XD
This is really awesome! ^^

That's intent of the frill...to make it look bigger and scarier..not a good tactic for catching prey though.

Love it!
And actually Dilophosaurus are supposed to be larger animals anyway... closer the the height of a man and taller. Jurassic Park kinda did there own thing with this creature, shrinking it and giving it the frill and spit

Alot of the creators for Jurassic Park didn't have accurate info for dinosaurs, they started to get better info by the third movie,

Stan did give the Dilo his own twist..but not without inspiration from the novel. It's been accepted by the JP community at large that the Dilophosaurus seen in the film was actually a juvenile. The park was newely open, so younger animals makes sense as well. Maybe in the new comic series or JP4 we'll see adult Dilolophosaurs....

Couldn't have pulled it off without you...

The accuracy really is do in no small part to the Making of JP book...one of the most well-worn in my collection...lol I can't say how disappointed I am they didn't do a JP3 one.

Far too much awesome for one model to have! The paintjob, especially on the frill, is one of the most Crash-accurate jobs I've ever seen. I can see you put a lot of thought and care into the Dilo (you ever gave her some Nublarian jungle to lurk in!) and it's an honour knowing my little sign has such a masterpiece standing next to it
