Poop, one more thing. (yeah, I know, after that HUGE post...)
The eyes. This took me YEARS to figger out... at that angle, her eye should be closer to the nose, not further away. The nose is very 3-D, its away from the face. It gets in the way of features very easily. We all, i think, have the tendency to keep the nose out of the way of the eyes by placing the eye further to the side. This is not natural. The nose gets in the way. So her furthest eye should be closer in with the nose bridge possibly blocking the view of the tear duct corner. (Altho, with her face tipped downwardly, the nose may be as you have it here... but the eye would still be closer in. Basic rul of thumb for eye for ideal placement-- one eye's width between the eyes. Some have farther and closer spaces eyes, but ideally, there is one eye's width between eyes.) Definitely something to keep in mind and look out for in the future.
Your hair is improving!

Yeah....i think I had to take a breathere during the last one ^^! That's cool thouch because i like the people sho take effort and critique my work, I try my best when I comment.
ANY WAYS!!!!!!!!! So basically what your saying is to watch my torso leg length and make my people a little bit taller eh? I accually remember reading about the heads thing in alot of books I researched. The thing about it is that i never measure when i draw...... just kind of oof: there it is, perhaps that's a bad thing ! I might accually draw the next thing measured, when ever i can find inspiration again......
Hmm I don't think i'll do the purple thing again, just kind of trew it in there as well, don't know what possed me to do so, but that's what happened. It should scream amature to tell the truth. Again just poof XD! Hmm, your 3 colors theory accualy makes alot of since, i have a habbit to have a pallet with about 5-8 colors on them. I don't know how much i could do with her wings tho, Not my color scheme ! never Tried two tones wings before with CG......
Hmm.....wit the eyes, i really need to work on them as well, I still havn't sound my style with them. it'll coem eventually. I really appreciate the help, made me remember alot of things I was forgetting or jsut not thinking about during creation. It's like making earth then forgetting the ocean.

No no, not taller. She's tall enough! *L* Someone mentioned her torso was too long and I went back and measured it. She's fine.
I can't draw without measuring anymore. I inevitably mess it up if I don't mark off my heads. I tend to make torsos too long and/or crotches too short when I do that.
*LOL* It didn't SCREAM amateur. That has a specific look to it. This one said "I'm still learning, but I am GOOD." And the 3 colors is just for a cell-shaded look really. Realism requires more colors. Ah, the fun of it.
Eyes are surprisingly difficult. Well, drawing is just difficult, but the whole distance and 3-D thing get tough. Drawing is allllll about distance. How far something is from another feature dictates everything, especially in portraits. Distance is what makes something look right or wrong. Weird how it all boils down to 2 kinds of lines (straight and curved) and how far apart they are from one another.
Ah! Here's a pic of Vampi done by a fellow DAer. Can't see the color scheme here but it's red, black and a bit of purple and gold. Costume designed by underground artist Trina Robbins decades ago...
Vampi is a classic fanboy drool fest. Especially the poor live models they use at conventions.

And yer comments are great! I don't always respond to them (I have so little time anymore) but I always look forward to them. They are well thought out and specific. I love getting comments from you! So even tho I don't always say it, keep them coming! They make my day!

I used to draw by measuring all of the time. I guess i just got so used to my own proportions that I stopped. Plus it was just too time consuming. It's good to know that I'm not an ameature.....just visually luck I suppose. I get away with alot of things. I think I try to achive stuff that's beyond my level...perhaps that's a bad thing? Anxiety perhaps.
Yeah you can tell me about the distance thing, I find myself getting bigger and bigger paper, jsut because i want to go close to my charcters, but at the same time they looks smaller. I think it's the details that throw me off. With the dynamics, and the coloring. I'm not even going start on my background, I should really practice them in relation as well.
Ahh i accually went and looked her up, and i thought myself......how is it staying on. O.O! Ohh well, I think that even i would put more clothes on. But for as old fasioned as she iss it seems to work. But for me it's jsut not enough detail. I'm all about the small things.
I figured you might still read my comment, I just write so long that i woudln't expect you to respond to all of them; we could make a small book with what we've writen back and fourth. I try to respond to everyone i can, just because it's a personal thing with me. Can't really explain. But when you make a mistake I'll be there to swell it up like a bee sting.XD

*LOLOL* Vampi's clothes are a mystery, they're glued, like Elvira's. I've never been a big fan of Vampirella myself, but she definitely has a niche for herself in the comics world. I always pitied the live models at the cons because they were SO drooled on. Literally, the poor things.
Oh, I read ALLL your comments! *LOL* I adore them and I will miss them a great deal! Who will slap me down off my high horse now?? I'll have to find a new comment guy to lavish me with critique and comment. ...Until you get back that is!

The space between her torso and butt is about 1/4th heads too long... but I have seen this in real life. Enter: Paris Hilton. DAMN that woman is long and thin. She is actually out of proportion as we claim it. Naturally. In fact, this girl is VERY similar in body type and length to Paris and some others out there... saying this, you can claim she is NOT out of proportion except as we are taught as a standard. Nature breaks the rules and so can we.
She IS turned quite a bit, we may see a bit too much of her chest from this angle, but some people are very limber and can achieve this without much trouble. So its not the length of her waist, it's her shoulder positioning. Doesn't bother me, tho.
I know you lost yer book, so just to refresh yer memory, a human body is 8 heads high: you can measure exactly how the ideal proportions are that way. Draw the head, then measure it. From chin to nipple will be another head. From nipple to bellybutton another head and from bellybutton to crotch is the fourth head. From crotch to toes is 4 heads. Check this, you'll find it correct on all standard body heights, though a particularly leggy model, for instance, may have a quarter to half a head longer legs... which starts basic comic book proportions, tho many artists go 9 heads for theirs or even more.
Some people measure the body in 6 1/2 head lengths, but I don't get this. Use yer fingers in a pinch formation and close one eye. Now measure a standard body by heads. You'll find 8 heads, as I described it, is normal. And easy to use on paper. I always measure mine that way tho may add and subtract as I feel necessary.
AGAIN, tho, nature defies rules from time to time, and leggy women are called as such because they have -surprise!- longer-than-normal legs. Also remember that super models wear HIGH HEELED shoes for a reason. Body building women, too. You'll see them using about 8 inch heels as a norm when modeling. That's because this elongates the muscle and offers the illusion of longer lines. It often adds about half a head, too. Michelle Pfieffer, as Catwoman, wore 8 inch heels to get her figure to smooth and lengthen to what you see on-screen.
All that aside, she looks great! LOOOVE that outfit!!!!!!!!!!!! One thing I notice about new colorists is their tendancy to use lots of red and purple together. Red and purple work if treated properly, but that takes a lot of experience. And time practicing. Here, you use the purple at such a grape and muted tone that is not overpowering. The effect works, kudos to you! Anymore purple, tho, and it would scream amateur. The floor looks super spiffy and the lighting effects are very nice! All in all, this piece passes with much approval from me. Heh. You can sleep better now, knowing that. *snort*
I would like to see tad more depth on her wings, tho. Personally, my rule of thumb on colors is a minimum of five. Main color, highlight (does not include using white as the lightsource hitpoint) and shadow -the big three, then two inbetweens for depth and realism. Minimum. That's for more realism, tho. If you want animated cell-look, then 3 is fine. That's just an off-handed comment, however. She really looks great. (To be honest, red is such a rich color that you can go nuts with it and it'll still look great. Unless you want a satiny effect, then just the three and a white highlight works. *nodnod*)

Uh.. no, your butt is fine.. but you might wanna get a waist operation.. see.. the space between her torso and butt is too long, as it is 2 heads and a half long and that makes that pose look even more strange cuz her torso is so long. Her eyes aren't at the same level in her face, as her right eye is above the left one. Then.. the last thing are the wings. They're definitely too small and look displaced.
Anyway... Would say that I love her concept, but she isn't yours so I'm not saying it XD I like the coloring though.

Blocks suck. Personally, I think blocks happen when the standards you hold yourself to rise past your ability. When you finally work through it, you always come out a better artist than when you went in.
