Description
Here is a work in progress original piece I am currently sculpting using Super Sculpey Grey. I am leaning towards using real hair strands instead of sculpting the hair. The sculpt stands 10" high and 10" wide. As you can see I used chicken and turkey bones placed around the skulls.Related content

I love your Harpy. It's absolutely beautiful. The bones add a creepy touch, being real and her facial expression is amazing. The human face changes smoothly into the bird, it's amazing.

This is completely awesome and completely disturbing. Excellent detail. I'm having trouble texturizing sculpey myself, and getting smooth surfaces out of it. Hair and wrinkles are also difficult...somehow I can't get it to look fake. NICE WORK THOUGH!

YES THANK YOU. I'm sick of all these porno looking anime harpys taking over. Harpys are very ugly creatures and I'm glad to find someone to capture that in a wonder sculpture.

The Greek poet Hesiod called Harpies "beautiful-haired creatures" and it was actually the Romans who described them to be ugly and/or grotesque, and Dante himself described them in his "Inferno."
You've brought to life the images of nightmares, horror stories, and warnings, and it couldn't be more beautiful.
And I agree with your idea of using real hair. It would bring her to life.
Tell me, did you fashion this with Aello, Celaeno, or Ocypete in mind? Or is she simply created without inspiration from a particular source featuring the Harpies?
