When I first gave her the name "Ligeia", she was named after a Siren of Greek myth, her name meaning "clear-voiced". The reason I picked that name in particular was due to it having the word "lie" in it, if you pronounce it the way Vincent Price did in "Tomb of Ligeia".
In the original Greek, I think the "lie" is still present, but it is followed by a hard G-sound.

Her using the dubious honorific "Scarlet Harlot" is a leftover from when this story borrowed more from the Biblical Book of Revelation than classical alchemy, with Glanvil Spire being compared to the tower of Babel.
