I have been dreading these few pages since the beginning as much as I have been looking forward to them. I want to do it right, but I am bound to fall short of my own expectations. Hopefully, I won't fall short of yours! (But if I do, let me know!)

I have many issues with how this page came out, just as I do with the following one, but it's up to you if it's passable or not! What is important is that you can tell what is going on, convoluted though it may be!

I have scattered allusions to Ligeia's nature throughout, but I don't think that they were something that would be immediately obvious.
The recurring runes that crisscross any given surface when Ligeia is about are meant to evoke computer circuitry, and another downside to cutting Carter and Eliphaz' subplots down is that I could not explore as much of the alchemical angle in regards to the Uroboros and the Phlogiston.
But, I think that the Philosopher's Stone is enough of a staple in alchemy that I don't need to explain it much, yeah?

My decision to lean into alchemy for this story stems from what Ligeia was when I first came up with her, well over ten years ago; a Salamander. Not the amphibian, but the alchemical fire-sprite. From there, it only came natural to include the Uroboros, (or Ouroboros if you prefer!), a symbol of destruction of rebirth, the phoenix representing the same, and the alchemical symbol of sulphur, which, in the writings of Paracelsus, also represents the soul.
