Bio:
Leader. Romantic. Father figure. Icon. Pirate. Only some words to describe the man behind the myth, the living legend who inspired entire generations-worth of seafaring outlaws who fly beneath the flag named for him; even then, none of them fully encompass the entire picture on who he actually is.

At his core of seawater and basalt, Roger Wilkinson is a man out of time, hopelessly out of his depth in the modern age of the superhero. Where once was the peaceful yet tumultuous life of the endless blue, wooden ships and iron men, there is only a future beyond his imagination, filled with magic and technologies not of this world, people with gifts that could turn deserts to forests or disassemble stars, and great cosmic beings who weave the fabric of space as if it’s a tapestry. Worse still, he bears what can only be described as a legitimate curse, one that gives him full authority over the seas yet denies him the sweet release of death, forcing him to live with the burdens of his past sins and the wounds of a truly horrific betrayal. The end result is a man proven to be the exact opposite of his name; a distant, gruff and shell-shocked curmudgeon with nothing to live for but settling the score with a former blood brother. A pirate to the coral replacing his bone marrow, Wilkinson is both a fair but strict leader figure whose patience for idiocy was lost to the depths centuries ago, and a truly merciless and terrifying raider whose ruthlessness towards those who hamper his goals hasn’t dulled a single bit.

Now, Wilkinson finds himself at the helm of a stolen experimental warship, the captain of a gaggle of assorted maniacs, morons and miscellaneous landlubbers in desperate need of someone to whip their asses into shape; so far, he's been struggling, and struggling is not something he takes well. But he can’t help but notice something about them; no matter how many times they infuriate him, make him consider just leaving them on some island… he genuinely cannot bring himself to do it. Maybe it’s just him getting soft with age. Or maybe they’re slowly bringing out the laughing, grandfatherly visionary who’d march through the chaos of a burning ship to save a cabin boy or tell a story to rouse his terrified crew; the man who gave him the name Jolly Roger. Only time will tell.

Toolkit:
Between his curse, the occult artifacts in his possession, and the mutations his body has suffered, Jolly Roger is one of the most powerful Paradigms the hero community has ever known, and with practice and time, his strength will only become greater; many who know him from second-hand sources would say he’s the physical avatar of the crushing, uncaring depths themselves, a true face of the ocean. He is almost completely immortal and has complete, borderline-divine control and understanding over all aspects of the seas, from the water, to the life within them, and everything in-between. He has full, near-limitless knowledge of the countless treasures lost to the depths; he can sense when they are nearby, shape them and even “bless” objects to turn them into valuable riches. He’s capable of communicating with all sea life, directing them to do his bidding in battle or otherwise, and can shapeshift his body into any marine animal he wishes, taking on their physical and adaptational characteristics.

Jolly Roger is capable of manipulating the waters themselves for a limitless variety of uses and effects; beyond his skill with using it offensively, creating constructs via water, solidifying and walking on it, and more, Jolly Roger is able to outright create natural disasters with it from floods, to tsunamis, waterspouts and more. He can also use this ability in tandem with his control over the weather; he’s been known to use lightning and wind offensively, create impenetrable and unnavigable mists, destructive hurricanes, and more.

He has a symbiotic relationship with his ship; it is almost an extension of him. With his bidding, the Silent Sunrise is capable of sailing at speeds impossible for any other ship, submerge and resurface like a submarine, and even telepathically control the rigging, boards and other components of the ship, giving the impression it’s a living thing. Jolly Roger’s symbiosis ability extends to even the oceans themselves, allowing him to communicate with them to some extent; with this ability he can know everything that is happening across the seas.

Finally, Jolly Roger is able to summon and communicate with the souls of those lost at sea and call upon them in combat; he has enough strength to crush a chunk of diamond in his hand and his reflexes, durability and senses have been greatly enhanced, though his mobility is limited.

Done in HeroMachine 3. Dream voice cast for Jolly Roger is R. Bruce Elliot.
