Description Osthmoorian soldiers from the 33rd Infantry Division stand by an HV-222F "Cerberus" Heavy Infantry Fighting Vehicle (HIFV) in service of the Osthmoor Capital Guard, at the Mirfield palace, Torrine.

"In response to the recent rise in spice and illegal substance trafficking in the Trascus Nebula and the Macharius Gulf, the Osthmoor Republic has boosted security and increased the frequency of armed patrols around its sector. Fighter squadrons and fleets have been given orders to engage on site any and all ships identified to be carrying spice or substances like or related to spice. As well as increasing armed patrols, the Osthmoor Fighting Corps and law enforcement have been instructed to carry out more raids and sweeps in suspected spice trafficking areas, lethal force has been granted for these raids, and users of this drug are warned to stop before they are found and promptly dispatched."

A quick scene I made for 3399, it shows an HV-222F "Cerberus" Heavy Infantry Fighting Vehicle with some Osthmoorian Fighting Corp soldiers standing guard alongside it.

Basically, as you can see in the description above, there has been a rise in "spice" trafficking, AKA space Krokodil. In order to crack down on this, security has been boosted massively, and any spacecraft/ships carrying spice are to be shot on site, with any survivors or escape pods being dispatched of.

What program do you color/texture/shade and light your vehicles in?

BlastWaves In reply to Krag7 [2016-06-22 18:18:43 +0000 UTC]

I use Paint.NET and MS-Paint. I use MS-Paint for the easy work (basic shading, shadows, etc) and Paint.NET for the heavy shading and texturing (Dirt, particles, chipped paint effect, etc).

I'm guessing you use a combination of preset textures and image-unique bits for the chipped paint and dirt/particles?Β

Basically all of the textures are done in Paint.NET manually, using a variety of ways such as distorting gradients and using frosted glass to scatter them, and then posterize them to reduce the color into a more pixelated/pixel art style.

Unbelievably detailed this piece is.
The background, the foreground - there is so much goodness to please your eyes with in one small frame.
I like it, I adore it. You're well respected within the community. (Don't know about NationStates anymore since I stopped going there, toxic forum)

(Spice, does that mean you've entered Dune? )

Thank you very much Panzer! I am happy you like it.

Yeah, Spice was named after the spice from Dune, so I think we have entered Dune.

You're welcome of course.

It is funny, because right now the current book i'm reading is Dune.

Tell me about the Cerberus vehicle. Is it related to your Linebacker?Β

BlastWaves In reply to Epistellar [2016-06-22 18:20:38 +0000 UTC]

Although it isn't directly related to the Linebacker, it was designed in the same style and aesthetic of the Linebacker, so they do look alike in a way, but in universe aren't related as the Linebacker is from the Paraganian Union and the Cerberus is from the Osthmoor Republic.
