Finally finished! This is my entry for Elite Equine Artist's '1K Watchers' contest [link]

This would have been done quicker, but school has been taking up far too much of my time!

Now, a bit about the subject of this work:

This wonderful stallion is Moorland Totilas, arguably one of the best dressage horses in history. His latest claim to fame was achieving 92.3 in his freestyle at the FEI World Cup, ridden by Dutch rider Edward Gal.

this is wonderful! your such a fantastic drawer! but...how do you draw a horse so well? I've been practicing but I need to learn the main technic of drawing a horse.

Thank you so much for your kind words!!! Uhmm really the trick is to get a good outline first (I do a really rough sketch first then tidy it up - I have a tutorial for linearts on my dA ), then block in all of the main colour of the horse on a different layer and darken/lighten/add tones as needed until you finish Hope that helps

the hip should be deeper than withers and the hind legs footing far more under the body. this is how totilas is always presented - spectacular but wrong if you remember true dressage riding. it's a pitty - he could be so much better if ridden properly.

but your artwork itself is amazing, I could never do something like this!

Well, I was disatisfied with the first so tried again, but E said the first was a better likeness. Second time round I missed the way Totilas tucks his head into his neck, but I thought I handled the paint better.
