Description Or should I say.... actually no... I'm not gonna say it. It's too late at night and I gotta sleep for classes t'morrow....yeah.
-----------
Sorry no loading bar. Haven't learned that yet.

A few things I want to get straight here:
- This will not be outlined and/or colored in because the due date is in less than 3 weeks or so.
- I have other classes.
- I don't go to art college, I'm merely taking advantage of having the class at my community college.
- The class itself is once a week (some of this I worked at home on).
- Not all the details are filled in.
- PENCIL AND PAPER. (With Flash for compressing and exporting...because I can't load .swf in the Pencil test category because they only allow .gifs and it just chops up the picture more than it already is.)
- Plays ok in Firefox and Safari (dunno about IE)

And... I think that's it.

-----------
SO- first almost completed pencil test from my personal project in my animation class... YAY PROGRESS!!

So...thinking about the ACTUALY time it took... I would say roughly....3-5 days with 3 1/2 hours each day (actually a bit more since I worked on it a little at home).

In the end (if I have time) I'm probably just gonna go back and scan each and every bloody frame...maybe and just combine frames in Photoshop. For now this'll have to do. (I don't shoot this at home- I would if I had the patience to figure out something efficient.)

Anyway- the scene here is, the character Nano is studying said horribly stylized cactus, and then looks down at its growling stomach. (Mind you there is no sound, that'll be added later in the more completed version of the entire short.)

I still have a ways to go, but I have another scene in the works and should be completed and ready to show upon completion.

...And now for sleep....glorious sleep...

30 somethin' frames shot on Two's @ 24 fps (had to change the fps in Flash in order to get it to show right...it's still kinda slow, but close enough.)

It's a bit large, but it might be easier if you download it and wait for it to load. (I'm still working on learning how to do a flash loader so I can fix this in the future.)

That is just amazing!
I love how smooth the animation is and that there are not "frame jumps" or whatever you call it. XD

Great job on it! ^^

Ah, I get it. Good thing I read your comments--I must say his look had me a little vexed.

Very nice smooth, though. To think that it only took you a few days to make this short animation--when it takes me a few days just to get a decent sketch produced!

Good on you

|D Which is another reason I LOVE the eraser.

And actually- animation can be done at any level of drawing~ If one can make it convincing enough to said audience, they hey you're in the goods~ (for the most part lol)

wow does this really take alot of drawing? D:

BlazeTBW In reply to Ionic44 [2009-11-19 22:45:46 +0000 UTC]

I don't see how it wouldn't take a lot of drawing in general- before the computer, this is how it was done.

That and considering the average animated cartoon (non-vector puppet) is easily 10,000 drawings (for one episode).

This is very nice and smooth. I think you're too hard on yourself when it comes to your art style. The cactus looks pretty good.

So...did you draw each individual frame? I don't think I would have the patience for that... I've tried it before and I lost interest in it.

BlazeTBW In reply to Pikmanipulator [2009-11-19 22:43:53 +0000 UTC]

Well- it's not like I could've done the frames any other way ghost effects can't do this- and while it could be done in flash (as in a tweened puppet, not actually drawing the frames) making it look convincing enough would be the hard part-

I respect you.

...What are ghost effects?

BlazeTBW In reply to Pikmanipulator [2009-11-19 23:02:41 +0000 UTC]

No real respect needed-

Ghost effects are basically that... sort of trailing image affect that follows a motion (if that makes sense)

I see the cactus is bigger this time around. \P I hope Nano's hungry.

I like this. The animation is smoother here than your other ones, and it looks like the start of something fun. I hope that one day you take the time to finish this.

Good job.

Nah- it could be better... |D; However I'm just focusing more on getting done what I can whilst not sacrificing too much movement quality.

It's a start...
