Beautiful snakes. I picked up my 3 Chequered Garter Snakes last night. 2 males, 1 female, they are gorgeous. Pictures will be up soon.

The female doesn't look too pleased with your presence, lol -- she's giving you a nice flat head display. They are gorgeous snakes, and you've captured them so nicely here. We don't have red-sided garters here, so it's nice to see the different color variations.

garter snakes were my childhood replacement for the ball that i always wanted... theyre adoreable though... once they calm down and get over stinking you up. lol

The adults around here can be pretty nasty, but like you said, they get over it and make beautiful spring/summer pets.
I almost always keep one for a couple of months during the warm months and then release them around now.
