I'm going back and forth on how his life ends.
Bruno can't live to be old, because he feeds off the danger and pain and action. Without it, he'd go crazy - it's what fuels him, it's what protects him. But he has to die for something, you know? Even with his mind scattered from the virus he still knows it has to mean something - all of this has to mean something. I think at this point, the one pictured, he's had enough but his pride won't let him just give up, so he does what he's always done. Fight, kill, and feel that powerful adrenaline keeping him alive as much as his own blood does.
So in a last effort to really feel something, he fights until he dies. He knows he'll be dead soon anyways - his body can't find the virus for much longer, and his friends are noticing that he's unhinging.
It's a sad story, really. All he wants is to feel alive. And the more he keeps feeding off the adrenaline the more he really needs it - he needs the pain and the hurt because it's all he has left to feel. So in his last moments he defends his friends at the cost of his own life, something that they all probably saw coming, but never really believed. Because Bruno's invincible, right? Why worry about him? He never shows his weakness, he never falters in his steps or cowers at the stare of an enemy. But he's just as broken as the rest of us.
