It looks actually cool 
I have also thought of trying but since I did already with highcarbon steel then copper seems like a downgrade, but the patinated surface is still sexi.. but... then again... argh

100% just for looks. The idea of copper set on rubber was to protect against lightning based attacks ,like a lightning rod on a house.
