It's funny, that one has definitely gotten me the most comments/favourites out of anything I've done, and it's so old. I'd like to think I'm a lot better now, but there's just something... right about this one that people seem to like. Maybe I'll try and redraw it soon and see what happens.

I think it's three things: 1) the colouring is really good in this because the arrangement and the shading is very clear, not confusing at all. 2) the pose is just a really classic pose. 3) You got the proportion of everything pretty darn perfect. I don't think I have much advice for you as you can certainly draw better than me!

Awesomeness just started to play Garen a few days ago and he's a really fun champ, also very strong. Nice job on it, I like a lot.

I personally think his sword is bigger (not compensating for anything!) and the frame of his upper body is larger. Otherwise, this is definitely a quality picture of him.
