Merry Christmas everyone. I come to you on a sad note during this happy season: wildlife is dying at an alarming rate. But, there is still hope and it is this that brings me to you on this day (well, day after, but who's counting?). It is my hope that by talking about this over the Internet that others, myself included, will be able to make a stand against habitat destruction among other problems that are facing magnificent animals such as the Bengal Tiger. This is my Christmas present this year because anyone can make a difference.

The most iconic of the tiger subspecies, Bengal tigers, are disappearing from their varied jungle, humid evergreen forest, and mangrove swamp habitats. This magnificent animal faces an uncertain future...

With the population of India increasing beyond a billion people, the natural habitats of the tiger are being destroyed to meet increasing demand for human settlements.

The other major threat faced by Bengals is poaching. The tiger has long been prized for its supposed healing properties and their bones are used in India and China as aphrodisiacs and medicines. They are also poached for their furs.

Over the last 20 years, the population has declined dramatically; and in 70 years, three subspecies of tiger have become extinct. It would be a travesty to let the Bengal tiger go the same way.

The Bengals, among 16,000 other species, habitats, and plants, are going: unless we do something, they will be gone. And the title of this artwork will no longer have a question mark beside it...
