Description (Normally spelled Wyrm) These mythological creatures are ancient and powerful dragons, who have lived for eons, and when one reaches such an age they not only become highly intelligent, but they often become increasingly spiteful as well.

This piece is a sword I made in February / March of 2004, and is currently for sale.

Just a side note for those who have missed it ... the funny looking back of the blade is a dragon lying along the top.

Price : $1350.00 AU

I truly appreciate your comments and praise, but I feel that on the great scale of bladesmiths in the world, I am no master, however, the design for this piece is certainly my favourite of all my work.

That is worth the money you're offering! Unfortunately, it would break my bank account...

Yeah, I know ... and I'm sorry. It's just the nature of hand made I'm afraid.

For the first sight I though that those small scratches are "simply" a nonfigurative decoration on the blade. For the second, i realized that "heeey, THAT is a dragon. How the hell he managed?!" So... I suppose you did surprise me
I hope you can find someone who can afford buying this sword.

I wanted the dragon to be quite subtle, but I think sometimes it's too subtle because a lot of people don't see the dragon. I'm glad it kind of snuck up on you though, and made itself seen ...

This looks AWESOME, but it seems like the balance would be a little off, with the blade being heavier than the handle, and the center of gravity being a little off. Even then, I like how the blade is modeled after a dragon rather than just having a design on it or something.

BLOODSTORME In reply to IllEatYourself [2012-06-22 15:14:24 +0000 UTC]

I wanted to do a sword with a dragon on it, so that's what I did. I made a swoed with a dragon literally on it! The balance point is actually exactly where the bronze stops, where it meets the blade, so it's perfect. It does look blade heavy, but there are deep fullers down at the point that reduce a lot of weight and bring the balance back towards the grip. The pommel is also quite large and adds a lot to the overall balance as well.

IllEatYourself In reply to BLOODSTORME [2012-06-22 17:14:59 +0000 UTC]

Smart. I never understood how people figure out the balance thing and all that so well, but it's still smart thinking. And the dragon isn't on it either. It IS the dragon! XD

BLOODSTORME In reply to IllEatYourself [2012-06-23 11:32:21 +0000 UTC]

Balance is vital for any weapon, but particulaly a sword, and each person likes a different balance. This sword is balanced perfectly for me, but most people who handle it like it too. The dragon was just a bonus ...

IllEatYourself In reply to BLOODSTORME [2012-06-25 04:49:01 +0000 UTC]

those dots make me skeptical about whether or not that's true. I'm thinking the dragon was your real excuse for making it, and the balance was just to make it work. And to make you look smart. XD

BLOODSTORME In reply to IllEatYourself [2012-06-26 12:36:28 +0000 UTC]

LOL ... Ah, you see the truth of it. Actually, the dragon was the motivation for the design, and getting the balance was the final necessity ...

IllEatYourself In reply to BLOODSTORME [2012-06-28 17:50:07 +0000 UTC]

Those dots are again making me skeptical. Are you screwing with me again? And yes, I knew I caught it, even if I was half joking. XD I am good at catching things like that, thanks to how genre savvy I am when it comes to certain things. And my knowledge of why people do certain things, however small that knowledge may be.

BLOODSTORME In reply to IllEatYourself [2012-07-07 09:38:18 +0000 UTC]

No. I'm not screwing with you at all. You were quite right. oh, and forget the dots ... they're just my way of rendering a pause ...

ALL OF THESE ARE AMAZING. I especially love this one because of the dragon ^^ Are they hard to make?

BLOODSTORME In reply to cat-with-a-pencil [2012-06-22 15:16:34 +0000 UTC]

This is actually my personal favorite, because of the cool design. I think a lot of people miss the dragon on top, so don't get the shape. I wouldn't say these are difficult, but more time consuming. I stopped counting the hours at 60 for this one, so it took me more than 60 hours to make.

Hi there, and thank you so much for all the favs and comments. It's always lovely to get possitive feedback, especially from such an attractive girl.

I love your photography too. You bring out the best in your subjects ...

Thanks!
Your swords and knives are some of the best if not the best I have seen here on DevArt. They are very well made from what I can see in the photos.
Must be a great hobby that keeps you fit as well!

BLOODSTORME In reply to Wirls [2010-11-23 20:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh come on now. Don't be bashful about my compliment on your looks. I'm sure you get told all the time you're beautiful ... I would think it would be an everyday thing.

I, on the other hand, have never been told before that my swords & knives are the best on DA, so thank you. I make all my pieces from a combat point of view, so yes, they are very strong, and made to withstand the rigors of being in a battle.

Hang gliding actually keeps me fitter than working in my workshop, mainly because I do more flying than knife making these days ...

Once again, my huge thanks for your generous comments on my work. I truly do appreciate them.

BLOODSTORME In reply to shadowgoofyboy [2010-06-21 03:32:47 +0000 UTC]

I really appreciate your comments. This is actually my favourite piece, but it often gets overlooked in favour of a certain other in my gallery. I do find though that the people who take the time to really look at this piece really find it intriguing. The guard doesn't represent anything specific. It's just a crazy design I thought would compliment the blade.

BLOODSTORME In reply to Ray3000 [2010-03-31 10:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Hey Ray ... I like your name !!!

I make these like any other artist working in any other artform does. You start with a design, and go craft it out!!!

I know it's way harder than that, but really, that's how it's done.
