Description
This is a little project I worked on the past few days. The primary goal was to simply create a scene which contains a gas-giant and some asteroids, so I started out by rendering the basic setup in Vue and overpainted it in Photoshop. I still haven't figured out how to use the distance-to-camera-input properly, so I just post-worked it the way I wanted it

Did you model the ship yourself? Also, how did you get the spaceship ion trail like that? I have been trying to get it like that for some time now.
It's very nice piece, although, the smaller planet I don't think is as good as the rest of the piece, makes it feel a bit awkward. The asteroid ring is also very interesting since you have chosen different sizes to complete the ring. Although, I think they are little too close together. I love the rays of light.

The trail is purely painted. Took me a few tries to get it done in a way that I don't hate it
As the light rays are purely driven by the alignment of the asteroids, I can't really make any adjustments (ie. reducing density) without breaking the entire scene. And I guess it's a matter of taste, because I like them they way they are

Well, I have started my digital painting-endeavors with spaceart, so I guess it's finally paying off that I'm somewhat doing it for almost 4 years now

Thats goos, for me I started in 2006. But it was a very slow start. I started doing spaceart in 2009. Or the start of 2010 I think.

Thats very true, I need to start doing this, otherwise I'm going to end up being badass at Space art and suck in other areas. I'm in the mood for working on character designs.
