Adam's Comments:
I'm currently studying for two finals I have tomorrow, one in Biology, the other Psychology, one after another. By the time this comic comes up, I'll have already taken those tests and be studying for an English test. I'm feeling rather bleak and cynical, so sorta fits that I'd be putting up the comic introducing Jake.

Head is too big in the first panel, and I went way too cartoony with the landlord design. Under normal circumstances though, think I'd be happy to finally see Jake. I think me and Martin both mark him as one of our favorite characters from the comic.

Also feel guilty about this. He only turns up in two pages in this whole first chapter. To be fair, he's hard to write in since he can't really interact with the kids yet, and he gets a ton of panel-time in the next chapter. Still feel bad we barely see him.

Martin's Comments:
Yeah, Jake doesn't show up much in this one, but make no mistake that he is a big deal in terms of the story. He will not, however, be fairly quick about getting to it.

Oh hey, I slipped a WWE meme in there. Yay me.

Jake's origin I'm sure Adam would rather get into another time, probably as it becomes relevant, but he started off in something else and was transplanted into the comic as it was coming together. I forget the exact details but I recall throwing out the name Jake for him, as well as the original name of Murphy something or other. Murphy wound up becoming his last name.
