Just a quick sketch of Raticate, to see what it would look like in my style. I don't really like Raticates, you see, and I'm not sure if I want to make Nami from SoL evolve into one. She's so cute as a Rattata.
Raticate is far from cute however. In fact, it doesn't even look cool or anything. It's just some scruffy looking fat rat, with such large teeth that it can't even close its mouth. I'm sorry, but I just don't find that appealing. I can't make Nami change into that, unless I can somehow make it look better. However, I'm also worried about changing Raticate's original design TOO much so that it won't be recognizable anymore.
Ah, anyway, I'm rambling now. Long story short, here's my interpretation of Raticate. This is a male, so it's pretty muscular. It still has the scruffy look of the original design, and the rather short legs. However, I did change the shape of its head and I closed its mouth. I have to say that I actually DO like how it looks now. But I'm still not sure if this is the right look for Nami. However, as a Rattata she won't be particularly strong. If she is to keep up with the team in the future, evolution is pretty much the only way to go. Tough choices...

I canΒ΄t say how much this picture no masterpiece makes me emotionally toughed. Raticate has long been my favorit pokemon ever since i cathed a rattata in pokemon fire red (5 years ago, wow time moves fast) and then growed on my heart. And this Raticates design is pure awesome, AWESOME I TEEL YOU!
And ever since i saw Nami for the first time, i was like YES! YES! my favorit pokemon finally got the role it desired!
IΒ΄ve wondered how namis evolution would be, SHE SHALL NOT LOSE her cutness. ah what am i talking about i think a female ratate will look great. Also like in the manga that female pikachu (chu chu i believe) had a flower.
I dont know a flower on namis head as raticate would look adorable X 3
but yeah raticate on its own is not the best pokemon BUT always good for a surprise.
Mine is stick with the compo Counter. After a hard attack it gives the double back. and thanks for it amazing speed it will finish the oppenet of with hyper fang or ice beam (i remember my raticate defeating lance with ice beam i called him the dragon slayer :3) ah yeah my good ol buddy Ra-Kun. And then super fang as a resort <: 3
Oh sorry im a little out of topic. Yes i would love nami to evolve, even if she is as adorable as she is now. But i thing its only a matter of time to accept her evolving 
will nami maybe scare the other pokemons with her look and make her sad?
Will her evovle make her more mature and be proud of her thoughness and get more serious?
Will she be proud but still play like a little child?
Or will she not change at her personally? (i think when a evolving happens changes are not to avoid)
Or will she hate herself at the start until Matt makes makes a heart toughing scene and make her accept herself and continue as a normal life happy Rat?
Whatever happens i will stay tuned as the biggest Nami fan ever : D!

Gosh, you certainly love Raticate! I remember when I first saw this PokΓ©mon, I was a little sad because I thought Rattata looked better. Not only was it cuter, but it also looked anatomically more practical, which is a big deal for me. I mean, if I were a Raticate, I'd certainly like to be able to close my mouth, and not have my teeth prevent me from doing that. o__o
Being cute isn't actually that important to me. I prefer cool/tough designs over cute ones. But they MUST look as if they could work in real life.
So that's why I tried to redesign Raticate. This particular one still looks pretty beefy, so I think I'll consider it a male. I probably should still attempt a female one some day. XD
Hmmm, I'm still not sure if Nami will evolve, and if she does, I don't know how it would affect her personality. She'd probably lose her baby-tendencies, I think. But she's still young, so I don't think she'd stop being playful. I honestly don't know.
When Sandy's Hypno was still a Drowzee, she had major issues with how she looked (she thought she was ugly, actually she still thinks she is ugly now). So I don't know if I want to do the same thing with Nami. Although, on the other hand... If I did make Nami go through the same thing, then she and Candy could have some sort of relationship based on that. I don't know. Have some sort of sisterhood going on or something. XD

I'm not a fan of them either. It looks cooler in your style but still, just like a bigger, scruffier version of Rattata. Also reminds me of a Disney-esque rat villain.

Yeah, redesigning Raticate was really though. I wanted to stick to its original design as much as possible, but I also wanted it to look good. Apparently those two criteria don't go well together. XD

Maybe. They are pretty short already. And Nami has pretty long legs, so it would be odd if she suddenly got all squat. XD

This is what a Raticate should look like! 
I think that Nami is cuter without evolving but she can look cute as a Raticate as well if you take care with her design. Keep her lithe (agile, lean) and not so scraggily and she will still be cute, even evolved.
Or maybe I'm biased because I don't mind rodents?

I guess the Raticate's design could be tweaked further, to accommodate Nami. But I doubt I would make it terribly cutesy. I know everybody likes her sweet baby-looks, but even Nami will have to grow up one day. Even if she stays a Rattata, she'll still lose the baby-looks and take on more adult proportions. She'll still be pretty though. Just in a different way.

No, no rodent pets right now, but I had several hamsters when I was younger. But since we live on a farm, we see a lot of mice.

Oh dear. XD My brother almost fainted once as a kid, when he needed to get some shots. The sight of a giant needle made him wobbly in the knees, although he's also not very keen on seeing blood.
This other time he took a hit on his chin (crashed his bike into something) and the sight of his own blood made him light headed. XD

I like it as well, but like you said, it'd be hard for her to keep up if she stayed as one. perhaps she can discover this the hard way at some point, and does so to assist Matt in a tough battle? *shrug* story's up to you though *chuckle* if you DO go through with it, I'm sure you'll come up with a good reason for her to evolve ^_^

Precies wat ik ook altijd zeg! Met hun mond zo open droogt de boel niet alleen verschrikkelijk uit, maar kan er ook van alles naar binnen schieten.
Lvl 100 Rattata zijn schattig, en leuk, maar helaas niet erg sterk. Eigenlijk is alleen de Focus Scarf - Endeavour - Quick Attack/Sucker Punch een goede combinatie, waarmee zo ongeveer elke PokΓ©mon (ook Garchomp) neergehaald kan worden ongeacht hun level. XD
Maar er is niemand die daar meer dan eens in tuint, natuurlijk. Lol.

Hey, if you remember which tile of water you were on when you caught yours, you shouldn't take to long to find more of them.
Alternatively, you could just breed some more. Got a Ditto on you?

Hmm, I can understand that. I once spent a lot of time of FireRed, to breed the perfect Treecko to be my special sweeper. So I finally got one with the right nature and IVs, and a nice egg move, Crunch. I EV-trained it for speed and special attack, and taught it Leaf Blade, Detect and Dragon Claw. That thing was a MONSTER. It seriously chews up most pokes without any trouble...
But...
Then D/P came along and turned all the moves this guy has into physical moves. This Sceptile's Attack is absolutely abysmal, so if I were to transfer it to D/P it would be horribly weak. It's so unfair!
So now I'm torn between three options. Option 1: Keep it on FireRed were it'll be awesome, but unused. Not really an option, because it would just sit there and rot. Option 2: Transfer it to Diamond and let it keep its moves for breeding purposes. Might produce some nice offspring, but it would still just sit there and rot. Option 3: Transfer it and give it new, Special moves. A horrible waste, but at least it would be back in the game again...
Tough choice.

Well it can breed with the Monster and Dragon group.
Maybe you can replace your sp.att sweeper with them since if ther're gonna be transfered to your Diamond/Pearl (or even Platinum) game.

Yes, it can breed with quite a few pokes. I'm thinking about transferring it to Diamond and then breeding it to transfer the moves to a more suitable physical sweeper type. After that, I'll probably replace the Sceptile's moves for Special ones. His stats are just too good, and I worked to hard on him to let him just go to waste.
