Gogo from FFVI Aw yeah! This was a lovely morning paint and an art trade for the venerable =scrotumnose ! We were discussing the awesomeness of perhaps the greatest RPG of all time, and noting those side characters that gave it all that extra pizazz. Did I have Gogo on my final team? HELLS YES. Did he have Umaro, the Sasquatch, who throws it's own team mates at it's enemies on his final team. EXTRA YES.I know Gogo, never shows his face and for the entire game remains an androgynous character- but can you even tell the gender now? CAN you? Ahahaha. My monies on Daryl- even though Gogo was the name of the FFV villain. I just like the idea of a woman crash landing her air ship, getting sucked up by a giant sand worm and forgetting who she is- so she copies everything she sees. Total opinion on my part though.
And that's one of the things that makes the game so iconic- it's crazy diversity, classes, magic and battle system, not to mention the fact that the bad guy actually succeeds in destroying the world.

Man, does this take me back. My personal favorite out of the whole FF series. Crazy-cool gogo. Even unmasked, you still managed to maintain that air of androgyny. Still not sure if it's canon that she/he is Daryl or not, but that's what I choose to believe as far as that facet of the story goes. Gau, however, will always be my favorite. I have a soft spot for "wild child"s.

I've heard that theory on Gogo's identity before. I also liked that spelling of of 'Daryl'. She also was given a nice theme even though she was just a minor NPC.
Final Fantasy IV will always be one of my favourites though. I didn't like VI as much after the Floating Continent falls. A lot of it was grindtastic with optional side story and the items and esper system made the characters lose their uniqueness especially if you spend enough time you could have everyone learn Ultima. For that reason I chose to only have characters with an advanced magical ability, like Terra and Celes, learn it.
I have to admit though it was one of the last great releases from then Squaresoft before the company changed to appeal to a wider audience also making the leap from 2D to 3D. SNES Square games were quite the dynasty in gaming history.
Ah, now you got me all nostalgic.
This is a nice rendition of Gogo. One of the things about the newer character designs -as opposed to Amano's fantastical work- is the clothing tends to look like it came out of the harajuku district. It's like SquareEnix decided it wanted to appeal to cosplayers or the fashion trendy.
I really need to shut up already because I could go on for hours on the subject.

Incredible idea. I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw Gogo without the mask. And I like that you still keep Gogo's gender ambiguous. The Daryl concept...I think I've heard it before...but its a nice idea and completely possible.

GOGOOOOOO. OH LORD. I think the majority of my love for Gogo was simply geared towards Amano's wicked bright colors and patterns. But this is marginally better; Gogo in your style! Too exciting. Amazing job on... well, everything! I can't stop looking!

I really loved this game, because Amano did all the character designs and I think it really shows. The monster design is great, all the attacks/magic are fresh and creative. Everything about it is magical. <3

Hehe, I've pretty much only heard great things about it, but somehow I just never found the time. Oh yeah, I also can't find a copy of it. But maybe it just came out for the DS or something to make my life easy. XD

>w>--<33 Oh shit! How did I miss thaaaat? What an awesome Gogo! Celes was badass, and I don't thing they managed to make another magic-using general/knight chick quite the same as her! I...have to admit that I love all the characters, they're such a diverse group- but I had a big soft spot for both of the Figaro brothers. Something about grown twin brothers trying to figure their shit out is so interesting to me? I dunno! Plus they were really useful together in a fight. Chainsaw and Bum Rush all the way <3.
