YAY!
I finally buckled down last night and painted my second submission to the Temeraire fanart contest. Originally I was going to use color, but decided that black and white might be more convenient (and the final book will apparently be printed in color, so...yeah). This is definitely the best digital painting I've done, ever. Photoshop and I don't normally get along, but we're getting better, I think.
I had a ton of ideas for possible Temeraire fanart - World War II AUs, Modern day AUs, dinosaur or unicorn battles, encounters with aliens, et cetera...but in the end, I couldn't figure out good configurations for what the art should look like. I just really, really wanted aviator interaction. So here's Granby, Laurence, Berkley and Harcourt and their respective dragons, enjoying a brief respite from the war I hope that Naomi will pick it up, especially since it could practically operate as an AU - I couldn't find good examples of victorian-age bathing suits, so I ended up drawing ones from the late 1800s-early 1900s. (Can you imagine 1920s Temeraire? EEEE <3 ) I kinda wanted to get Tharkay in here, but couldn't find a good place to put him...I'm guessing he's wandering around on the beach elsewhere
