Description *full view a must to see the 3D image - click the download button to see the full sized picture*

the 3D image you are looking for is shown on the bottom in grey scale, just in case lol.

this is viewed with the parallel method, not crosseyed - which means focus behind the pic, and let your eyes sorta come back in till the image pops out at you. make sure to have your glasses on if you wear them. best viewed about 20 inchs from the screen.

*sorry for the small preview pic - this is just a picture, in gif format, to preserve the 3D image*

I've always wished I could "see" these things. And the other one too, where you look at it very closely and then back away until you can see the image. None of them work for me since I only use 1 eye at a time. *boo-hoo* You always come across the neatest programs!

I use only one eye at a time due to a childhood injury. Sort of like lazy eye syndrome, but I can concentrate and actually switch eyes. If I work really hard I can use both eyes for a second or 2. It's weird! But these "trick" pictures are beyond me.

I'm hoping that I'm going to be able to use some of the programs that I have downloaded soon. Things like KnotPlot. I just ordered a new computer tower. He is setting the video card higher, like up to 64 megs. I opted for a larger hard drive 80 gig, and the memory is 512. Should be enough. It's a celeron 2.34 (like a Dell) so I will have the power that has been missing these past years. I'll be moving my files from the old computer to the new one...hopefully that way I will know where everything is. Then I can "wipe" the old comp and use it for "storage". Don't know for sure if I'm going to do that or not. It will take a while to fill up 80 gig, but I thought I'd never fill 30 gig.... I only have 5 gigs of space left on this one!

oy, the eye thing does sound weird! wonderful on the new comp!!! sounds like your getting a good one to. im planning a new comp to, been looking at them recently. hopefully i will get 1gb ram this time. 512 was a wonderful improvment over the 128 that came with this comp, so 1gb should be even better! bout 80gb hd is what i will get to, although after all these years, all the art junk, photos, and progs i have, i still havnt used half the 60gb i have now lol. ill likely get an amd chip though, iv not had a problem with them through 2 comps. o and hopefully a good cd burner with lightscribe, as cd-r's are reported to last a lot longer than dvd's. (cd-rw and dvd-rw are the least likely to last) i will most likely will wait till late summer to get a new comp though... from what i hear they will have the new windows vista out sometime this summer. that gives me more time to research just what i want anyway lol.

Not going to worry about DVD in comp. I have to buy a new TV, so will get DVD with that. My grey burner is going to look funny in my black tower, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. With an 80 gig HD, might never even need to burn anything! Would only need it to burn music CDs and have managed to stay away from that so far. Get what I want a K-Mart

Really like these too, I spent hours looking at them when they were popular a few years back.

Thanks for uploading it. Simple and easy to view, as well (some makers seem to assume my eyes are a foot apart )

You might want to make that stem a little thicker, it's getting lost in the texture . . .

yea i was reading something about how these work the other day, and it talked about how far apart your eyes are, and about people with bad eyesight etc. thats why i mentioned wearing glasses lol... my husband couldnt focus on this untill he put on his. in the prog i use you can adjust for these things, but i left it on default, having no idea what the norm would be.

sorry about the stems, i did notice that, but by the time i did, it was going to be way to much hassle to fix it lol. so im afraid this first one is "as is", but i will know better next time.

the prog i use has an awful method for rotating the 3D model, kinda like the trackball in bryce, and it takes me forever to get it in the correct place. silly thing seems to rotate backward sometimes lol. and it doesnt do well with high poly counts on models either. for each movment i do, on a high poly count model, it takes several minutes to actualy do it. this forg and waterlily has 23,036 polygons and took about 2 min to do each move. and models dont open in the same orientation you saved them, but all out of whack. i tryed a model with over 100,000 polys and it took over 15 min just to load it, i couldnt work with it like that and had to give up.

the only other prog that had good features that i could find wasnt free, so im pretty much stuck useing low poly models i guess, or actualy spending $ for the other prog lol. i know you like to work with some 3D stuff yourself, and if you want to try making these stereograms yourself, check out the prog i found. [link] i warn you though, i have to run things through several progs to get my models all set up and in the right format. poser is invaluable as its the only prog i have that will save in dxf format, and open 3ds format, which is what i do models in mostly.

o and if you do actualy try this prog, i might have some questions for you lol. it seems there are other things you can do with this... background stuff etc... but i cant figure it out, as it is done using some coding i dont know... i think "C". yes it says... "The built-in function parser accepts any function typed in C-style. It recognizes 13 operators, 44 function names, 2 constants plus unlimited number of independent variables." this doesnt mean a thing to me lol, but i think it will to you.

ok, time for me to stop talking your ear off as usual lol.

great, im glad your having fun with it!! and im def still a newbie with it to lol.

wonderful test you did, i commented on it just a min ago.

i think i have some idea what you mean about the scripting features, but just barely lol. ill keep an eye out for your test with that, but doubt i can use scripting myself... im very very pitiful with math lol.

Thanks for the link. I've enjoyed a couple of luncntimes making things with the software. Still a newbie, but it's great to simply have a play for a change

I made this as a test: [link]

I wouldn't worry too much about the scripting, unless you want to make stereograms including maths formulae. It seems you can make the depth or texture the result of running a function, but all that really means is you could use it to plot a graph, like a sine-wave or similar. I've seen some "Magic Eye" books that had sterograms like that - I'll try to make one at some point so you can see what I mean.

Thanks for feedback - I reckon you are right, plus it is really close to the edge of where the 3D effect has to stop . . . I guess I canoot just go ahead and load just any 3D scene into it, so that's an additional challenge to get the 3D technically good.

Thanks for re-introducing me to these, I'm going to have so much fun

Just discovered recently that Pain Shop Pro has a "tile" filter that I reckon could be used with this and some fractals to make some truly great pieces.

Unfortunately my "to do" list for artwork has spiralled out of control at the moment. I need an "art week" holiday
