A request for

I was asked to do a pic of Arella and Slade as a pairing. I chose to give this a try for several reasons. It seemed like a good way to break away from the norm of things. A change of pace from my usual fandom. I also welcome a challenge, both because I rarely draw either of these characters and it seemed like something out of the ordinary pairing wise. As for the pairing itself, I don't have any kind of problem with it. I just have trouble seeing how the two of them would get together. But hey, to each his own. I don't judge or dismiss pairings simply because they're not mainstream. Afterall, when I first started doing Teen Titans fan art, BeastBoy and Raven was almost unheard of.

I drew the original sketch while I was home for Christmas, and only now managed to finish the coloring. Nothing too complex. I like to think that I'm steadily improving with every pic I do. For this one, I blocked out the base colors using the pen tool, and then added additional detail and midtones with a standard brush. I also threw together a small background of the cogs and sprockets from Slade's lair. It was a toss up between that and the church in the "Birthmark".

I hope this meets with Sweet-Nymph's approval and the completed work makes up for the time it took me to complete it.
